I caught it on re-run.
Man that guy has a lot of stuff. I had to laugh when his wife said he wanted to sell. It was a setup just to be on the show. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I think a lot of the sellers on the show with amazing collections are set ups. Still interesting to watch. Sometimes I even learn stuff. _________________ Prosit!

For sure. These days they use the show premise to show off great collections. Long gone are the days of the freestyle drive-ups, if they ever existed at all. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

My latest ebay find, not as rare as the South African Beetles, but I'm pleased. In all honesty I hadn't see one and wasn't sure how rare they were. Evidently the last issue according to https://diecastgems.com/dinky-181-volkswagen-beetle/

Thanks Bob for the link. A good reference for me. I've signed up and book marked.
I have a handful of toys, but the plastic hubs on this one are what stuck out. I realized that I had the title of the image with plastic hubs, but didn't include it in my description. It was about typical price of the 'regular' ones, and is unique, at least in my collection.
Thanks again. |

Yes, the plastic hubs are considered late production and scarce. Nice find! _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Got this car last week.
I know it is an Original made just after the war as the book says, and can be found on the big interweb.
But pricewise i am guessing as they are not for sale often.

I have one, too. I thought that I had posted in a thread about it, but I guess not.
Mine has the "bosses" on the underside drilled and tapped so it might have been mounted on a wood base at one time.

I built one to look like my bus years ago. It was a little smaller then 1/43, but bigger then 1/64. It was a split window bus, but the cargo duel doors slide open like a bay. Anyway I won an award for it at the classic some twenty plus years ago. It was not as good looking as your. I'll have to look for it and post a picture. _________________ Prosit!

I liked the look of the blue car against the red background so much that I decided to photograph the Marklin No. 9
KdF-Wagen. Note the IIIA-9 registration plates, as well as K.d.F on the rear bumper. Thanks to BoB Gilmore and Tom Eitnier
for their assistance obtaining parts.
This car was in two pieces before the restoration, and may be the only restored one in existence. Are there any others? _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I liked blue on a red background, so here's red on a blue background.
