Finally worked my way through my project and got to adjusting the valves. Got one and two good (zero clearance on my roller rockers) and started on 3. Was tightest so far so tight I couldn't twist the pushrods at all. Backed out the adjuster a bit and got it to twist but no in/out play. Then I pushed on the bottom of the rocker only to have the pushrod deflect and come off the adjuster - had to tighten it back down to get it to stop deflecting off the adjuster. Is that a bad deal? What's the next step?

Do the ends of your pushrods have enough clearance for when the rockers fully open and close?

could the adjuster foot be worn out? Is that a pull the valve train to replace sort of an issue?

they look fine, look for marks on the pushrods where they were contacting the pushrod tube. something may of bent a tube, Ive even seen the cooling tin come loose and cause issues.

so who makes roller rockers besides pauter these days in the 1.25/1.3 ratio?

are there any rockers from the v8 crowd that fit push rod to stem alignment that could work with a custom size rocker shaft diameter?

thanks

i briefly thought of making my own once i wrap up the cnc, but if i did being me id have to take it a notch further and add a hydraulic mechanism or something in there too. actually, maybe thats not a bad idea. light solid lifters with no valve adjustments. better have good psi at the rockers tho for them to expand fast. hoover mods to the rescue?

Most guys who run Pauter rockers drill a hole in the rocker end of the pushrod to spray oil onto the springs as not enough travels through the rocker to the valve side. That would bleed off too much pressure for a hydraulic adjuster at the head end.

sounds to me like the pushrod is rubbing against a pushrod tube.
It will make adjustments seem funny like that.

Remove the rockers and inspect the pushrods for rubbing or they may be bent. Look for that too.

Hands down. Pauter are among the best you can buy.

I have very few issues setting them up normally.
