Man we went to a lot of the same places on our trips!
We saw that iOverlander site at Purgatory resort and moved on to the one in our video, Lime Creek road. Not by ourselves but at least not a parking lot.
I knew that Highway 50 would be closed during the week so we made sure to get through on a weekend day. Sucks you had to go all the way around.
Keebler Pass was maybe our favorite area we visited in Colorado. There were still lots of people but it was spread out enough that we didn't notice. Did you get caught in a sheep herd at all on the road? We had to wait a few minutes as a dog herded some past us.
What a great trip report and too bad we couldn't have meet up somewhere for a beer! If you find yourself our in Oregon, let me know.

Thanks Nate, I should have paid more attention. I saw a digital sign in Montrose that said "HWY 50 CLOSED" but I thought there was no way they would close the whole highway and that maybe it was just for semis. I was wrong.
I'm hoping to get back out to Oregon at some point. we did a long trip there a few summers back and had a great time.
No sheep on Kebler for me, just an angry moose. We did catch a herd of sheep on Hwy 40 near Dinosaur Nat'l Monument a few years back:

After we got caught on the Highway 101 closure for our Redwoods trip in February, we are overly cautious on looking at road closures now. That is the only reason we knew about it.

Glad you liked Crestone, did you try the Crestone Brewing CO? |
Unfortunately, they closed in May. I had only been there once a couple of years ago, and liked it enough to want to return.
Your place looks really nice. Congrats! |

Hey Joe!
Great trip report!
Those are some of the same areas we explore. We were at Peru Creek last weekend and near Tin Cup a couple of weeks ago. We've also driven a good ways up North Twin Cone Peak off of Kenosha a couple times to get away from the massive crowds on the Colorado Trail.
Cheers! _________________ 1987 2WD w/ 2.5 Subi & Poptop Conversion |

I haven't been able to get down there lately so bummed to hear the brewery closed. Over the last few years there have been a couple of great little eateries that open but don't last long. Crestone is a tough place to have a business. There seem to be a large group of people, probably retired that live in the Baca, that really don't spend much time in town. Seems a lot of the young people there aren't really there to work and probably don't add much to the economy. Lot of spiritual pilgrims. _________________ '84 Westy, '93 Subaru ej22 and Subarugears 5speed
