Do most people with 67 & 68 Baja's ditch the Z-bar or is it best to leave it? I plan on reindexing the rear for a little more height but I'm not going nuts with it, mostly street and gravel roads out here with some light trails.

a z bar would reduce articulation - the ability for one tire to go up while the other goes down - to the point that you would have one tire dangling in space on interesting trails. but if you need articulation you want full IRS

Volkswagen used the Z-bar on 1967-68 Bus in the USA as a overload spring for the rear suspension. At the same time Volkswagen reduced size or rear torsion bars from 22mm to 21mm size making for a softer ride.
If you are using larger rear tires and wheels, you may want to go to larger diameter torsion bars in the 26-28mm range.
This will stiffen the ride and help to keep from always bottoming out the suspension.

Then I'll take it off and put it with the other back to stock parts.

Good to know on the torsion bars, I thought I remembered something about 67's and 68's sagging in the rear more than other years.
