Hi, I am currently the owner of 1302 wreck, I have managed to somewhat restore the chassis to almost perfection. The body however is a very different story, after having looked into the costs of body parts and spare parts, the cost of repairing such a rotten & rusted body would be far to expensive for what it could ever be worth without original parts.

So here are my questions in plenty, would it ever be worth restoring a rotten out body knowing it would not pay off? Would it be possible to purchase a modded body for such chassis, VW Buggy, VW Wizard, etc. for a 1302? If possible I would love to make it a wizard or perhaps a buggy so if you have knowledge and experience with either I would love your help:

VW Wizard Body:

Are there versions of 4 seater Wizard bodies that fit the 1302 chassis with the McPherson strut suspension and are there options that doesn't require changes to the chassis? What would the cost of such project be, including utilities such as steering wheel, carpets, etc. and are there any easy to manage glass fiber bodies to use? Does these come painted or is that an extra expense to add? Finally, how much time would this take for a succesful build and where can one buy such body?

VW Buggy Body:

Like the with the Wizard options, are there any 4 seater buggy bodies that would fit the 1302 chassis with the McPherson strut suspension and how much change in the chassis would it require? Where would I find these bodies premade for sale? What does it take to make this chassis and this body work together and is there a chance that any parts from the original can be reused? Would this require any changes to the original 1200 engine as I suspect it would be exposed to weather and wear? Lastly are there versions of the buggy that are better than others and does these come painted?

New VW Body:

Finally, would it be worth just finding a donor body for the chassis and what would it cost including repairs and addons needed after purchase? And does all 1302 bodies fit all 1302 chassis?

Thank you so much

Not much fits a super(1302) beetle chassis other than a factory body. The strut front suspension is the issue. Maybe post this in the kit car/glass buggy forum.
