Goddammit.

That’s fine if they don’t want to sell but leaving it there like that means no one is going to be able to enjoy it.

Should probably get someone who is more persuasive to help out. Sometimes all it takes is driving up in your bus to show the person you can handle the work.

Believe so. Been sitting right there for going on 50 years.

My son went out 4x4ing and came across this split window in a ravine that will be challenging to pull out. The frame and floor seem in really solid condition overall, we're in a desert area and the body panels we dug out have minimal rust. Looks to have a walk thru. Took a pic of the VIN plate, but need help deciphering it. What year is it? My son wants to pull it out and bring it home. Is it worth pulling out, does it have any value? Thanks in advance!

Looks like a 59? Is that a UT export code? Can't quite see it clearly.

This one has definitely been "dug up".

UT code? Maybe because we're in Canada?

UT is a tourist delivery code. It means the bus was likely picked up at the factory in Germany, then driven around Europe, and finally shipped to the US (or Canada?) for use on this continent.

I love a great find like that. It’s always amazing how much is still there like the steering wheel and seats. I’d say it’s worth recovering if you’re up for the challenge. All panels are available as replacements or spend sone time knocking it into shape. Good luck and keep us updated please. I think it’s a 59/60 too

Cheers. Dave

Mote that he made a dedicated thread for the Bus too
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=758639

I posted all the M-code plate stuff there so check that out.
I didn't want someone else to spend the time doing that since I already did.
