Good to see you've got it all back together and out getting driven. Congrats. |
Thanks Bobnotch.
Just trying to put miles on it now to break in the new trans, about 150 so far and still a little stiff. |

Finally got it dialed in, new trans on it's maiden voyage.
Shifting was really stiff at first but getting better by the mile.
Stopped by the skatepark for a quick spin.
Then took the squareback by the round house . . LOL

Well all has been going well with the S.B. lately until this morning when I backed out of a friends driveway, bump the exhaust pretty hard then heard that distinctive sound of an exhaust leek again.
Checked it out out when I got home and rhe #2 flange was barely hanging on.
Only posting because the lack of anything new with the S.B. other than mileage.
Fired up the welder and all is good.

Nothing major going on lately with the old girl but I did find this one ball at the Irwindale drags a few weeks back.
Did have to modify it to fit the Empi shifter but that's what it's all about, make it fit. . . . I like it

Took her out for the type 3 rally on Friday.
She did awesome, had a small issue with the generator light but when I checked it on Saturday it was only a loose wire on the DF post.
Fun Friday for sure, couldn't pass up a cruise in my own back yard.

I thought I saw a few pics of your car in the ISP cruise thread. Nice shots of it in the wild. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Found some old fog light about a week ago, I think they'll make a fine addition to the squareback.

Made some bushings to mount the lights, no wiring yet.
I wanna make sure I like it before I do all that.
I think I like it.

Hello again.
After about a year with the stock 1600 it's finally time for an upgrade.
Got this long block to get started so she can stay on the road while I get the new motor together.
This thing had been overheating for sure, just take a gander at this oil cooler . . UGH
But the case is in good shape with a two over line bore that still good so Im off to a good start.
The original plan was a thick wall 1835cc but thing may change. |

Test fitting the main bearings and crank before going any further.
All good, spins like a top.
The the usual clearancing to deal with when ya got a big bore with 10mm studs.
This side is all good now.

Looking good so far. Have you tried test fitting the back half of the fan shroud yet with that fitting there? _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.
