I came across new old stock VW mudflaps with original brackets and hardware. The box does list number 361 821 805 B, but my google search shows little. My coworker believes they are intended for type 3. I am looking to identify model/year so I can get these in the right hands. Thanks

361 is a Type 3 part # so you are correct.

They look similar to these I found a long time ago:

I'm used to seeing those big clamps in my photo above but maybe those aren't needed since yours are taller

Jason37, I am unable to pm as I am a new member. A notice is displayed that informs me that I need to wait 1 day before pm. As for pricing I don’t have a clue, I was thinking of auctioning them off on ebay.

Newbie question. Are type 3 mudflaps generally the same between type 3 models (squareback, fastback, and notchback)?

yes and no - 36 part number indicates its first use was on a squareback. That doesnt mean that notchbacks or fastbacks didn't use them at a later date

if you have the barackets they can fetch a pretty penny
