Sigh.

Its amazing how things work when the bracket is facing the right way. I had the rear bracket flipped. Reversed it and everything lines up. Sorry to be a time waste.

Perhaps, though someone could advise me on the two questions I am looking at:

1) do I need a new throttle cable or will the EMPI extender work- It is a tube that extends the cable 1.5: and has a fitting that goes into the barrel nut. My gut says it tightens on the wound cable so a hard end such as the FI end won't work. Thus it needs the 67 FB carb cable 311 721 555C
2) Can the oil fill breather be removed without pulling the shrouding?

Thanks and sorry about the Carbs fire drill. Duh.

Dave

Don't pop the rubber caps off your breather as they don't like to go back on!

I did the exact same thing with my balance tube/air cleaner bracket. I almost welded a tab to my air cleaner to get there, and then a pic on Samba saved me. You are not the only one!! I usually like to figure those out before I post a pic on Samba like you did! Wink

Most of us who run carbs, go with the 66 T-3 cable.

I don't think so, mainly due to the M6 screw that goes thru the big fan housing into the breather stand. The M8 bolt inside the tube isn't a problem, nor is the 4 M-8 nuts, but the M6 screw being hidden is the trouble spot. It uses the breather stand to help hold the shroud to the engine (1 of 4 m6 screws).
