I need to replace the front drums on my Baja Bug. It has 1965 front brakes.

I'm considering a pair from Wolfsburg West. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these drums.

Are they as good as the original German?

Are they actually from Italy or just repackaged Brazil?

I need drums that can handle an off-road beating like the original German drums did.

I'm not interested in converting to disc brakes.

Yes, really Italian, and they make a point of it on the packaging. Quality of machining looks very good, and the bearing races go in with the right interference fit. These drums don't rust right before your eyes, like the cheaper ones do. I was pleased with the set that I got (early rears need a hole drilled for the early oil slingers) IMO, a good choice if you can't get the Made in Germany Sebros.

I have LPR Italian rear drums on my 1200.
Good quality, no problems so far.
LPR makes good brake parts.

Don't know what Wolfsburg West sells.
Could also be OMC Italy.

The Italian drums that I purchased from WW were OMC. Pleased with this purchase.
