Remarkable how good they look after all this time!
I mean this is the same year the Soviet Union shot down Gary Power’s U2 for goodness sake! _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Im very happy there arent any rips or tears.
I didn't pop out into this world until just shy of 9 years after this car was made. |
BTW: I had some success cleaning my previous interior using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

The dark spot on the drivers side near the armrest is probably dirt/oils from the drivers hand/arm over the years. Passengers side was just a run down from where i didn't let the Simple Green dry enough. I will look for purple power and see what that does |
I sure would not want any residue from PO's perspiration on my interior pieces. Before you start with PP, try the SG again, but let it sit wet on the surface for at least a minute before scrubbing with the Eraser. Also use a soft bristle brush such as a hand-cleaning brush on the vinyl right after the Eraser while the vinyl is still moist with the SG so that the bristles reach into the tiny pores of the vinyl. Should help to let the part be outside in the sun for an hour so that the surface heats up a bit when you spray the SG on.
I've also used the "old" formulation of PP years ago on metal or hard plastic, and it worked really well. I'd be very cautious on the upholstery's soft vinyl. Aggressive to skin so wear solvent-resistant gloves. |

I used to use tooth brushes to clean sensitive parts or hard to reach areas but sometimes I need something a bit more abrasive. A few years ago I thought I would try a "Denture" Brush. This is now one of the most effective and usefully tools I use when cleaning my cars. Along with Simple Green. _________________ Marc

Had about 30 minutes this a.m. to mess around with the Ghia and i am wondering what headlight ring would be correct for my May of 1960?
|
And the correct answer is…
Both.
The scruffy one on top is the bulb holder and mount. Notice the little wedge shaped indent on the top? The chrome cover ring snaps into that and screws in 180 degrees from the top.
You need a big Hella logo ring with the corresponding wedge shaped notch. It’s the same one used on lowlights _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!
