Still smoothing the rest of it
Just gotta make sure I stay on course and don’t distort it too far .
I have a spare tire coming over to make sure it’ll fit before I weld the apron on

I like it

That’s exactly what I have on my bug and it’s great! Unfortunately my ragtop stays outside and it has held up very well

The hood gaps look excellent, especially considering the front end was crumpled at one point. It looks like you did more dolly work on those inners. I have a '65 with very similar damage, I got my hood gaps really good too...but I think I'm gonna try to skate by without an apron replacement (body-off thread coming soon).

I may have missed it, but where did you source that 3-finger apron? NOS?

Right here in the Classifieds
It is old stock, but the tag shows Brazil.
I liked it because it came with the weatherstripping channel already attached.

I got a donor fender from my neighbor down the street
It’s a 64, so the turn signal is in the wrong spot
I’ll have to relocate it and weld up the old hole
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I sprayed some rattle can primer on it to see if it looked ok
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And it matches up really well
I’m going to keep this one as it’s been impossible to find a matching set
The bottom front corners of each of the fenders need rewelded because they have small tears . That’s ok
I the fenders lines up well at the body too
But it’s still needs some hammer and dolly work to close the gap a little more

Made it a little better today
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I’m gonna pull the fender back off and sauté up the edge
It should be ok then
Besides , I need to weld up the bottom corner anyway

Btw- does anyone else have stacks of receipts like this that you are too scared to ever add up ?

The CIP1 stack is probably two dozen pages thick

That's why I do not bother tracking costs. It also gives me plausible deniability with the wife. Laughing

Just found your thread. Nice progress. I had to do a similar repair to the front nose on my 64.

Yes d'oh! But I also tally them in Excel as they come in, so I can get the pain over with up front.

Corney gave me the dimensions for the hole I need to cut in the roof for the ragtop graft
I’ve been waiting for those and for it to warm up a little
I’m pretty intimidated to cut a hole in a perfectly good roof . If i screw it up, the body is useless

Search the many posts on the subject. I think you're thinking too much into it - you'll do fine.

Almost ready to cut a hole in the existing roof for the graft
I marked a center line on the top Of the roof
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Marked the center inside as well

I then started to trim up the donor piece And realized that the supports on the clip would help me center it

I then trimmed quite a bit off of the perimeter

Since I am welding from the bottom up, I dont need much overlap
The 9 holes on the bottom are just for a guide and will be cut off after I mark the holes

Careful! Those might be the holes for the headliner edge! I vaguely remember that the metal clips in the headliner cardboard bow fit into them. Research first before you cut them off.

Right
I meant That they are only still attached to the clip so I can Mark where they will be drilled into the roof
Then after I mark The new position, I’ll take that section off of the clip as well
