Front cleaned up nice ✨
Hard to see the difference on the picture
Now removing the orange peel on the side
To afraid to use the orbital sander, all by hand and a small sanding block
🥵

🤩 almost like a mirror 😜
Did not get rid of all the orange peel, good enough for me
Could go even further… not risking it 🤭
Did not even polish with the last compound yet 👌🏻

Where did you find the two pointed grommets? Mine are way to crusty to reuse but have not been able to find a good replacement. The bus looks amazing, great work.

It certainly saved me a lot of money spraying the bus myself.
Spraying the inside, outside and bottom of the bus with a professional painter would have cost me 4 times as much
But I think I also worked on it 10 times longer 😄
it's definitely not a perfect paint job but i'm happy with the result
i won't be afraid to take it on the road
One more advantage when i do have paint damage on the road don't have to worry about repairs anymore because now… I have the skill to fix it 😂 |
That paint work looks great! Great job. _________________ Anthony

What a day…
So headlights are in… what a nightmare 👿
Aftermarket nose, aftermarket lights, and me who did not
think it was necessary to fit them before paint 🤯🤬🥺😩
Turns out the lip on the headlight buckets was a bit to big…
Not fun adjusting on newly painted bus
tried to install the wiper arms, placed the first one straight up away from window to tighten the screw.. SNAP the mechanism (pivot-spring) broke
Bad quality one’s it seems (payed more than enough for them)

not sure if that makes you feel better, but i have been putting headlights in in the 80s.... original ones in original noses and beetle fenders.... they can be a bitch. _________________ regards

Great work!! currently just behind you in the "painting at home" phase
will also need a cut&buff session after painting but for sure more rewarding than outsourcing it all!!
Curious to see your final result soon .. for real! Which would be your goal as first meeting?

Okey
Lifted the (C&C branded) whiper arm 2 times and broke it 😡
Turns out the harder steel plate cuts in the softer material of the
Pivot… so i made 2 new steel pivots
Now they work perfect 👍🏻 and smooth, do not know if I should paint
the arms also in seagull grey like the bus ??
And sure we will meet once on a meeting here in belgium Peter 👍🏻
Only do not know when 😄 don’t like to put a deadline on my project
Don’t wanne rush things. First one maybe 2022 Bug Show spa-francorchamps
Surly interior wont be finished by then but will be road worthy (i hope)
I’m really thinking of replicating the campervan interior
Like the pictures 😍 need to convince my wife first tho 😅
