That Edsel wagon made me think of an oddball Edsel Ranchero-like thing that used to be at this little junkyard in McPherson, KS in the mid 2000's. I don't think there was a real factory Edsel Ranchero but this thing looked pretty well made. The same junkyard also had a late 40's Nash sedan made into a pickup that looked pretty factory too even though there was no such thing. I never took any pictures of the Edsel but low and behold, it pops up on Google Street view.

If they are indeed a real thing, can you imagine what a mint stock one would be worth? My Uncle got $90K for his Edsel Ranger station wagon! You could double or triple that!

We saw this ol' pickup still earning it's keep today in Claremore, Oklahoma. It sounded pretty healthy, though the side gate needs some rust repair at the bottom.

Claremore is a small town about 20 miles from me along Route 66, maybe even a bedroom community for Tulsa. There is an operating Corvair group in this area. Flat 6 is beautiful sound, they run great. Wind em up too quick and they throw a belt. Dad had a 63 Monza 500 four on the floor bucket seats. 😀

That looks like a side loader. The side gate drops down and then it is a ramp for loading what ever needs loading. Like lawn mowers, motorcycles or whatever.

Yes, it has the side gate (and it made loading that washing machine easier). The gate was the only part of the truck we could see that had any rust on it, though we didn't get around to the other side. I'm not sure what year it is--they only built them from '61 to '64. It's good just to see any Corvair variant on the road!

Saw a rough looking version of this cruising down the highway recently. Sounded great. Must have had a strong drivetrain built under that ugly exterior.

1955 Dodge panel. It may have been a 56, but the differences are slight and my memory has turned to shit lately.

Being VW people, we see THIS model as the real Corvair "Variant"! Wink

Oak interior option.

I don’t know honey, I’ll check the trunk.

Wow, I missed that too. The picture is just dark enough and my elderly eyes are no longer as sharp as they once were.

Well, I take many photos of things that catch my eye & I tend to edit the photos a bit on the dark side. This usually gives things a more ominous feel, but it really enhances the clouds that are in shots.

However, in that photo, the best angle for eliminating an undesirable background, put the brighter sky behind the main image which made subject darker.

Here’s the car, unedited, from a different angle…
