I kept a Venus Flytrap indoors in a terrarium with a couple of Rainbow Lizards when I was a kid. I can’t recall how long anything lived but obviously not that long. I remember feeding it baby crickets. _________________ Volkswagen!

Venus fly traps are indigenous to North & South Carolina… but they are protected species & you’re not likely to get a car anywhere near them due to their natural habitat, like most carnivorous plants, are wetlands.
But I’m sure you could go buy one & set it on the hood. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

I'll bet there were some epic battles between the flytrap and the lizard to see who got to eat the cricket babies. |

Hello There,
Yes, carnivorous plants are native to North America. However, I've only seen them wild in the Trinity Alps of northern California, the Darlingtonia AKA California Pitcher, cobra plant, or cobra lily.
No, fungi are not plants. Likewise, no epic battles. They are fairly passive carnivores, they use UV light to trick insects into coming to dinner.
There is a National Preserve in Texas, the Big Thicket and one in North Carolina, Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden both feature carnivorous plants.
We've grow them in containers here in Shoreline, WA and back in Santa Cruz, CA, they do well. The larger cans stay out year round the smaller ones live indoors or in the green house; they made it to the shady deck during the PNW heatwave.
Have one in a pot? Put it on/in your VW and get it done. Have some local? Take a drive and post a pic. I'd love to see some in the wild, or you VW near a preserve's sign. Heck, theres a few carnivorous greenhouses in the continental US (Oregon, California, or North Carolina).Get your VW to one of them, get a pic, and post.
Next Challenge: Your VW next to carnivorous plants—bonus if they're native.
Cheers!
Mike

Mr Mike
It’s been over a week.
I think it’s time for a new challenge unless someone has plans to meet it soon. _________________ Volkswagen!

Ha, funny stuff. That's neat about the western false asphodel, thanks for the link. So, no one has plan(t)s to meet the current challenge?
Revised Challenge: Your VW next to, or near, some public art
Cheers!
