Just got this Karmann Ghia, it’s been garage stored for the last 30 years. I have documentation that says the engine was rebuilt close to when it was stored, but it supposedly ran for several months after rebuild. Looking for advise on what I need to do prior to trying to start it? Does gas tank need removed and cleaned first? Thanks for any advice!

Tear it down and reseal otherwise youll be chasing leaks.

100% cars dont like to be sat for any length of time. The seals will be terrible and yes the fuel/brake lines will most probably need replacing. The tank may have rust in so I would take that out and have a look in.

Looks like a great driver! Mine is a just like yours. Has some rust but the KG is harder and harder to find. Prices are going up and up so consider it an investment and enjoy driving it while you wait on the ROI.
