Ive been trying to search site for info on how to adjust the front bonnet lock on my 61 Ghia. It is popping open if I hit a bump. The safety catch works fine but its frustrating and dangerous so id like to fix it. I know it will be an easy fix but what is it?

Hi Nick, I think we both know that guy . I'll be taking the car to him once the COVID lock down finishes as he need to do a full detail an fix a few very minor issues found in final build. Thanks for advice on fixing lock. |

Some times the cable tension needs adjusting. It controls the positioning of the latch that holds the pin down if there’s too much slack or not enough the latch won’t grab the pin. I’d start there. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I believe they are beetle headlights. I saw a lot of guys doing this mod in So Cal back in the 80's, at least where I lived.

The only thing worse was the 90s Mercedes headlight butchery. Remember that? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I don't remember that one! If you have any pics, do share.
I was never offended by the beetle lights since everyone always wanted the Ghia to look Porschy, especially in So Cal, and if done correctly it looked nice, and at least the headlights were VW.
Mercedes lights? Uhhh, no

OK, yeah that's pushing it a bit!! The slanted lights not so much but not sure about the quads. I can't even get my left side high beam to work, so I can't imagine trying to wire up all those lights! I must admit though, it's not a bad looking Ghia!!!

Nice clean job on the lights.
Did you get the hood to latch? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

How did you get it to hold? This is a common issue so others might learn from your success. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I adjusted the two nuts above the spring. I think it will be trial and error as not sure which way to turn but seems to hold. I know when i hit a speed hump. |
