So out of curiosity, what does the hive mind feel a realistic price for this car to be? Personally, I would be maybe at $2k and that's basically to strip it and sell the parts. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

Whoever bashed that car did (partially) what I would've told them to do if they wanted to cause irreparable (practically speaking) damage: hit the pillars and hard lines...they got that roofline just above the right quarter window. But aside from that, everything else is a fairly easy repair (I didn't say inexpensive). So, I wouldn't scrap the car as you would, it's nowhere near scrap material, but I'm not far from you in price. I e-mailed him when it got posted and informed him that he was in outer space with that original price, and to not take it personally if people "low balled" him or asked whether he typed an "extra zero" in his original price. I guess reality is slowly setting in for the fella. |

Personally I think my original reply of did he mean $2.5K, was about near the mark🤪
on a lighter note, I hope this story has a happy ending, and the vendor sells it to someone who is going to invest some love and some TLC on that bug, and rather than part it out, get her back on the road 👍 _________________ 1966 VW Beetle ‘Jules’

I just noticed that and came here for an update He actually made a brief stop at $11k for a few days, but it's hard to stop the effects of gravity.
Nice catch by Harry finding it on TS. The weird thing is, he's been a member since 2012 yet just posted his TS ad today, and even more weird is it's hung up at $12.5k.
Maybe he originally hoped some local craigslist suckers would take the bait at $25k. |

1966 VW Beetle Bug Price: $16,500.
Solid throughout including body panels and pans. Updated to 12V and 1500 engine ("H" series). New headliner and seat kit. Correct "Turquoise" paint "L-308".
Interesting color, complete with typo, for a 1966. It looks Java Green to me, but the inside color looks off. |

Almost looks like it’s missing the taillight housing rubber. And that broken off horn ring looks janky. _________________ .

Sure, it's finally down toward reality- but isn't a buyer possibly buying into this guy's karma? Who did that- the spouse? The spouse's boyfriend? There's a story with which I wouldn't want to help finance the reparations. _________________

I saw one at KP (Red Barn?) 3 years ago. If I recall it was $500 or so with the grille. Perhaps this seller just hasn't seen one in so long he is making the market? _________________

"This was tested about 10 years ago, but has been sitting in a box in my office ever since. Sold as is."
Ran when parked.
It's easy enough to test. _________________ Glenn
