Those rubber hoses are not meant to fail so quickly. I replaced mine a few years ago and no problems.
You can also try your local autoparts store. Behind the counter they have a rack of rubber hose and tubes. Ask them to let you back there and measure them to find something that closely fits. |
Heimlich is right..........a parts person today does not even know what they have hanging behind the counter. I have been back there and it is literally covered in dust, but it contained ALL the twist and turns I needed with a little cutting involved. If one store will not let you go behind the counter to make the sale, remember there are plenty of others that will. There are hundreds of little hoses that you will never know if they fit or not because you havent ASKED for the right Dodge Aries part that is exactly the same as your VW. Most hoses are here, just have to LOOK at it. It , the hose, doesnt care if it fits your Dodge or VW. |

Just an FYI.... a lot of those little special shaped hoses are heater hoses and aren't designed for gasoline. |

I do agree that some suppliers sell / produce in-house products that are superior to others. WCM has earned their great reputation for their rubber pieces.
I will say that last year, I had the gas smell / EVAP leak in my VW and bought Wolfsburg West's gas smell elimination kit and I haven't had the problem since.
I also bought an aftermarket locking gas cap which never seemed to fit the threads properly and allowed gas to leak out when the tank was full and especially when making a left turn, so I reused the original non-locking gas cap and have had no problems since. |

I filled up yesterday and the gas smell was there again...not as strong as when I found the broken overflow line, but strong enough. I'll keep searching to find the source...i need a good sniffer. I did replace the gas cap too from WW, wanted a new gasket, but didn't find one for my old cap. The seal on the fuel sensor was replaced along with all the evap lines all the way to the back. The original long, rectangular evap cannister in front does not seem to be cracked or leaking either. |
