Cap for 73 door mirror holes

I am remounting my 73 mirrors onto the ThingShop type hinge mounts.

What is a good fitting plastic or metal filler cap/plug I can use in the old door holes. I can weld them up some day, but don't want to mess up paint right now. If I find a nice cap I can always paint them to match.
There was a old post here on the board about this, but it is too far back and the links no longer function.

Can't you just screw a bolt in it from the inside of the door so it is flush on the outside?

Thingparts.com has brass plugs you can install. Search for "mirror plug". I suppose any properly threaded plug will work though. Don't over think it.

My holes in doors are just that...holes
No thread or bolt left....would like something almost flush

Just search Amazon (or your local hardware store) for plastic hole plugs. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes; got to be something that will work.

Get out your caliper and if you don't have one it's time to add one to your tool box. Measure the inside diameter of the hole with the caliper and take the measurement with you to your local full service hardware store. They should have black plastic hole plugs in various sizes in one of their many little drawers of fasteners that will work just fine and a pair will probably cost you less than $1.

Maybe I'll just hammer a dowel in there and cut it flush with a hacksaw.
