My 67 bug generator will be replaced with a correct push terminal unit. However, our mechanic states that over the spade connectors there should be a rubber boot for rust protection, and I’m having a hard time finding a seller for this. Does anyone know here where can I find those boots for sale?

The push terminal generator did not have any rubber boots for the terminals.

^^^ this ^^^ mukluk spot on!

8bit Innovations, what your mechanic was probably referring to by "a rubber boot" over the spade connectors is most likely a common rubber (plastic?) heat shrink tubing piece sized to properly cover the 2 female spade connectors. But..as already pointed out, the original factory set up didn't use anything such as "boots" or heat shrinking over the 2 female spade connectors on the '67 - '68 generators. I'd bypass your mechanic's advice for installing "boot" protection there, as it's overkill. If absolutely necessary, just occasionally take a small wire brush or emery cloth to shine things up on those connectors if it worries you.

Now I know why I was definitely having a hard time finding those, they don’t exist! Now I can sleep well knowing that the generator won’t be missing parts or protective hardware. Thanks to everyone for helping me out with this one! Cool

By the way, I love this seller - he has reproductions for a lot of small things no one else cares about.

I used a sparkplug wire end to rig my own (alternator) boot for the heavy gauge B+ wire:

Those are for screw post terminal generators.
