Have always used 30HD in my '64, 40hp. Synthetics are so superior, I would consider it, but don't know which viscosity. Or if I should avoid it all together. Anything I can do to baby it (30K original miles on car), I will do. She runs like a top.

Synthetic or not? If yes, which viscosity?

To avoid plunging into another discussion on oil and opinions on this type or that type, I'd simply just ask myself "Why mess with success?"

If you've fed your 30k orig mile '64 vert with 30HD all this time, and she's still purring like a kitten, WHY would you consider synthetic alternatives now? Unless you have some need for rebuilding it at this point, just continue with what you've been using all this time.

Oh..and please post some pics of your '64 vert! I'm sure everyone would love to see your pride and joy!
