We hit 106 in Canby. Drove the bus since the Volvo lost a relay related to the a/c... funny how I'm less annoyed driving the bus in this heat than the wagon. It can stop any time though, I hate this heat. Today the heat, smoke and humidity just about killed me on top of an 11 hour workday.

Margaret!! Very Happy

When did you move to Canby? You're on the wet smoky side of Oregon now? Cool.

Speaking of cool- it only showed 102 on my porch in Springtucky yesterday. What was REALLY unnerving, though, was it was still 91 at 9 o'clock and was only down to 89 about an hour and a half later. Shocked
Oh, and this smoke S-U-C-K-S. Big time.

If you ever get down to this area LMK.

Dang, 106 in Canby Shocked only 97 in Tualatin where I work (15 miles north of you) only 97 in Portland where I live. Not very smoky in Portland, yet. And yes, I know you know where Tualatin is. Some readers don’t. Just odd it got so hot down there. 15 miles away. Ugh. Thank goodness for portable AC units. Looks like they will be getting a lot of use this year.

Ooof. We are in a mini heatwave of 90F high humidity here for a week but pretty much everyone here has AC. Mine is a 1972 Carrier unit which I’ve used 6 times in 31 years.

Let me know if you need help finding that Swedish relay for your other steed. Don’t go aftermarket , especially KAE

Got down to 56 here this AM, but the smoke is still thick so I won't open up the house like we usually do. Only 71 in the house now, so that ain't bad. I prefer it in the mid 60's, but whatta ya gunna do?

Supposed be 95-100 degrees the next couple of days, and still smoke so thick I can't see the mountains just over a mile away.

I feel for you guys in the Northeast. I grew up with high heat and humidity in the Midwest. Out here, one thing we don't have is humidity this time of year. Which, is part of the overall issue with fire season.

Hi G!

We moved back 7 years ago - really missed the cooler side of the mountains and being so close to family - landed in Canby since the high school had an FFA chapter for the kid (not sure why OC doesn't since it's pretty Ag oriented).

I thought I'd left the high heat behind, but such is not the case. I will give you a holler when I'm down your way once it cools down. I think I'm passing on the Pendleton Round-Up this year since the variant spikes are looking a bit ugly, and I really don't need to be that close to that many naysayers.

I think I'm going to hand her over to the V Shop in Portland to track the issue down (it may be the relay behind the glove box), and I really don't feel like taking that all apart. with the no a/c and heat soak/hot start issue still not resolved, my girl is unhappy.

Our daughter works at the Cabela's there, so know it well (I remember when it was much quieter back in the olden days). I work in Wilsonville, and even the temp difference between the two was surprising - 101F vs 106F.

Cool and Rainy here this weekend. It seems the hot streak has ended, as the forecast calls for below normal temps in the near future.

Fires are still burning in the area, but have been dampened down considerably. They won't be "out" until the winter snows hit in full force, but the smoke has cleared and the air is fresh again.

Feels good to wear long pants and a sweatshirt again. That has not happened in a very long time.

Here's hoping for a real sumbitch of a winter. Bring on the six foot snow piles and below zero temps. It is time to weed out the weaklings around here. Laughing

we're in the middle of a hurricane now. weather guessers put it at a category 1 then downgraded to a tropical storm....but are still referring to it as a category 1 Confused

power went out this morning so the generator is getting a workout. lot's of rain/heavy wind but not much in terms of damage yet. went scouting for my morning coffee and other than some minor debris on the road there wasn't much to talk about.

I am loving the fact that's it's still only 64F outside and cloudy.

We are just barely picking up remnants of Henri, but we are supposed to get about 2 inches of rain overnight.
