I’m sure a few of you have seen my build thread and said to yourself.. wtf is up with those external hookups on that green van?

Yeah, non standard. I know.

So I’ve got 4 circular hookup holes. I’m debating exactly what to use all of them for. I think stock is: external power, water, vent line, and mouse holder.

120vac input seems interesting
Water input/fill is necessary
Don’t need a vent as im not doing propane.
Leaves me with two ports.

Ive seen External solar which seems cool
Shower out
Air compressor

Anyone else have good uses for the spare ports?

Solar for sure.

I do not like external water. If it is city water then the pressure can cause internal leaks. No bueno. I always fill from the inside anyway so no need for exterior fill port.

If you off road a lot an air pressure port with an internal compressor would be great.

For our Eurovan I've recently installed external boxes for both 12v (solar) and 120vac in, and plan on adding a third for air out.

I think we VW addicts need talk our venders into fabbing a “donations” box to add to the mix.

Make our vans work for us while parked Smile

As personalized as the vans can be, that a really subjective question; solar, beer tap, city water, etc. To each their own. What do YOU want to do with it?

Or if your van is basecamp for mountain biking trips or time spent at a lake/rier with inflatable "vehicles".

i put a quick connect compressor fitting in one of mine. best thing ever. I went with the ARB twin air compressor as the first one i put in couldn't blow up a soccer ball. fits like a glove behind the driver tail light.

Agree. I did the same. I went so long without deflating my tires because I had no way to re-inflate until I installed my on-board ARB compressor. If you travel off road often, even on logging roads, washboards, beach, etc., makes a world of a difference. Best mod I have made.
