Has anyone ever fitted non standard gauges to a kit car? As in from another type of car, ford etc. What type of senders would you need. I would think as long as the senders suit the gauge it should work.

Yes...you have to match the gauge to the sender and the sender to the application.
So...as an example...you need to have a oil pressure sender with the correct threads an that has to be matched with a gauge that is calibrated to that sender.
I have used Dolphin gauges before. Obviously the only one that came with the kit that I did not use was the water temp. But I did use the speedo, tach, oil pressure, fuel and volt meter.
If you use a mechanical speedo it likely won't be that accurate. An programmable electric will require a VW style sender. Or you can use a GPS version |

Check out the gages over at speedhut.
They are fantastic, and customizable. I have a set in my Corvair Autocross car, and planning a set-up for my Manx.
Not cheap, but good. |

The Dolphin gauges look pretty cool. How did you set up the speedo? |
