Our newest 356, chassis #11260 formerly owned by Tom Birch. Searching for a Type 519 synchromesh transmission for it as well. So much fun! Bonus shot of me in 550-054 and our Pre-A with a 1959 356A 1600S chassis #106185

Has anyone ever heard of the wherebouts of a black 1951 coupe #11101, recently?
It belonged to a guy I worked for In 1966. I kinda remembered the # because it was unique.
In the late 80's it was advertised for sale in the St. Paul, Minnesota area. In the 356 Registry.
I'd sure like to have it. Or one like it.

I'm gonna answer my own question. From this notice some year back, perhaps 10 years after I posted, the then current owner of 11101 did contact me. He was in western Germany and he had the car for quite a while, had it restored to a high standard and painted to the original Silberfish (spelling) color. I did give him everything I knew about the car and previous owner.
He said he was getting old, his children had no interest in such things, so thought he would soon be selling probably at the Paris auction company, Artcurial. He said he expected it to go quite high.

Here are the auction results from that 2018 sale. About $1.1M US. It was for sale in the Registry classifieds for $1700 in about 1983. _________________ Al Brase

Amazing, a beautifully example of a 356 Coupe. I'm just drawn towards this car. _________________ Prosit!

If you went back to 1955 in a time machine and were sitting in that car at the factory, right behind you would be James Dean's car. _________________

the decklid bolt looks very crude for a porsche...and the rear quarters are vented with no glass. see this nice coverage of the details
