On the outside cut out any loose parts and fibers and then I used Marine-Tex epoxy to fill the voids. Then sanded and shaped the epoxy areas several times to bring them back in line with the surrounding bumper shape by adding more epoxy and re-sanding. Then sanded and primed the entire bumper and painted. Looks great.

The OEM silver/gray bumper color looks good with the original blue and burgandy colored vans, but does tend to fad to a semi-green-ish hue. I think it sort of clashed with Vesuve Grey and Flash Silver though.

My personal preference is either black or Flash Silver to match the body. If paining silver, I prefer the "rub strips" to be left black though.

I'm sure yours will look great, whichever direction you go!

Thanks, all! Scarlett is now at the “spa” (body shop) for a fresh coat of OEM “Cloud Gray Metallic” paint on her bumpers/cladding. She will also get new paint on her front clip to remove the “road acne” accumulated over 31 years, and a new windshield!

I might be wrong here, but I once heard the term "clip" referred to the part which was ruined in the accident. This means if you want the front part of a car you need to order a rear "clip".

Is this true?

A little late but for others doing this. Here is a no fiberglass approach.

Mine were in pieces. I glued mine together with two part auto panel glue called Lord fusor. It shrinks a little when dry but hardens like concrete.

You can also form it with a wet finger. Make sure you remove any excess as it will require a grinder.

I was using the term generically to refer to a section of the body separated by seams or obvious edges. To be more precise, new paint will be applied to Scarlett’s entire front end forward of the driver/passenger doors and up to the “A” pillar seam with the roof.
Cool

I have only ever heard a front clip meaning the front of the vehicle and a rear clip meaning the rear of the vehicle. A quick search on Google supports that nomenclature.

The oem silver/grey does seem to clash with Flash, doesn't it. Black would be easy but you lose the uniformity somehow. This looks good but it's the money shot angle

West System is one of the easiest epoxy choices. They have pumps which deliver exactly the correct ratios. 10 oz cloth and some 406 colloidal silica to thicken it for certain applications. Disposable chip brushes and acetone for clean up. I always use exam gloves when chemicals have a part B.

If you want a good front end to replace a damaged front end you would order a front clip.

The Factory color for fibreglas bumpers is not black,
Factory bumpers are grey.
and looks awesome.

Rattlecan Black paint
on the rockers is a common
ploy to hide rust.

Depends on the model. Most are, in fact, Graphite or Black:

Kamz,

THank You!

Fun to see the variety of colors.

I wonder why some of the
plastic bumpers were grey,
some were black.

I’ve repaired a few fiberglass bumpers. Make sure you use a SMC resin and filler. These bumpers were made with a release agent where regular fiberglass resin won’t stick.

Factory paint color for the bumper is Cloud Gray Metallic LV7N with the center darker color Graphite LH7B

If anyone knows a source for Cloud Gray Metallic LV7N paint in the USA, there are many people looking for it. Nobody has that color code in their system.

Grey is painted, black is raw. The raw ones turn kinda grey/chalky black with the sun.
