I kinda did the opposite, I took the old aftermarket shifter out and put in an original type I bought in the classifieds. Its also night and day improvement in driving and i like the looks better. The pictures show the old one and then the new stock one installed.

Cut some weeds from underneath of it. Even though the driveway is gravel the weeds still come up under it. Unfortunately with me working almost 60 hours a week I don’t really have time for it except on weekends now and I’m usually busy then too. . Next thing to do is probably get tires as the ones on it are dated 1995 and they are cracking and going flat. Might do some suspension work too. Of course I’ll post when I do more. |

We replaced the original steering wheel (that literally broke in half) with a smaller diameter one, with color, so that my sons/my legs would more easily fit when getting in.
Today I'm dropping it off to have a horn path created, and connected to the center of the new wheel. While in there, also going to R/R the signal cancel.
I'm dropping with mechanic, electrical is a bit over my head. He seems to think he can do this for 1.5 hours labor - SOLD! |

... finishing up a tough job I was procrastinating on
...decided to try some heat and it worked great on the first , thicker layer of a black rubber substance that had a layer of brown paper over it
This rubber wheel on a drill is my new best friend - vertical surface complete
Now , the luggage shelf , this is how far I got the last time i left the job , many hours of scraping and penetrating oil , just for half the area
The finished product , heat for that first layer , came off like butter , then ran out of penetrating oil , luckily , just as I finsihed the job
So impressed with the heat / rubber wheel , I'm moving to the front footwells and front firewall , nap hat area , whatever you want to call it ...

What is this rubber wheel that you are using? I have to strip the glue off of my footwells as well. _________________ Where would this hobby be if no one shipped parts.

I had the same stuff. My progress doesn't look as clean as yours. lol
I added some rust reformer on the rail and a little on the firewall.

The response from the Shark is pretty much it. There were a few other options that looked pretty beefy , but maybe too big for some of the areas under the dash so I stuck with a small 4"
I imagine that 3M brand to be really good quality , although mine cost less than $20 CDN and I'm happy with it.
:2gunfire: Bullshooter : I picked my wheel up at Princess Auto , looks like there's a bunch of locations out on The Left Coast.
I'll leave with this one observation : warming that goo with a heat gun before the rubber wheel made it come off my S _ P _ R , super easy (tacky joke , sorry) ... _________________ Roger ... "Lost in the haze of alcohol-soft middle age" |

Only an over-sized dollop of seam sealer keeping these little squares secured over these "holes - with - no - (apparent) purpose"

Tried to do a leakdown to figure out why there's high pressure in only the 3/4 valve cover.
Turns out sucky little air compressor is sucky. Couldn't maintain pressure even on a tight cylinder. Sigh.
I *think* the #3 cylinder is passing air through the valve somehow. Still not sure why only one valve cover would be under pressure, but that happens to be the cylinder that got a screw caught in the exhaust valve. The valve, guide, and seat were all replaced by a shop, but I don't believe in coincidences... _________________ No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. |

Well, solved two irritating issues today; my fuel guage has been haywire since I bought my 74 bug and last night I decided to change out my sending unit as I already had a spare and that didnt solve the issue. I traced the wire up to the guage back and it seems like the nut that holds the wire was a tad loose.
Tightened it and all seems good. Second problem I had has the rear seat back latch grab handle had somehow become unattached. I had a hell of a time stuffing my fat fingers back in there but finally got my seat to fold down after a year and a half. I reattached the plastic pull handle I and works like a charm. Thanks to whoever posted the pics of the latch so I could figure out by braille how the darn thing worked! _________________ 2005 Dodge Ram Hemi Quadcab

I fit up a fiberglass air dam that I picked up at the Carlisle, PA Import show 20 or 30 years ago. It was made to fit a Super beetle with wider fiberglass fenders. I cut it down and am trying the fit. No idea who made it.

Those 2 squares were likely well-placed drain holes for the factory primer when the entire body was dipped into the huge vat. When the body would rise back up at an upward angle from the overhead conveyor line, the holes helped the pooled-up primer run out so that you had a more uniform film thickness on the rear cargo floor. Once the primer had dried, the holes were covered with the squares and held in place with the seam sealer. |

I sprayed this star on my hood. The dark square around it is stencil adhesive. Hopefully it comes off at the car wash after the paint cures.

flat4olsen,
How do you like that LoGMech throttle cable system?
http://logmech.se/eng/products/carburator/throttlecontrol-cable-kits/
I have clearance issue with the Magna Spark II dist and CSP center pull linkage. The left rod contacts the dist body. And hangs the throttle open on that carb.
Curious, why did you change from the CB BlackBox to the Magna Spark II? _________________ I have learned over the years.
