|

Hello!
I wonder if someone is able to confirm that a Vintage Speed exhaust will fit with stock heater boxes & heat exchanges etc?
If this is the case, i will stick with that option, vs getting a J pipe/custom headers that will fit with the Vintage speed exhaust....
Pros and cons
Stock heater boxes:
Get airflow in the cabin etc / but tricky to install / extra parts needed etc
J pipe/custom heaters:
Fewer parts, and hopefully bolt up and play / more expensive / was reading somewhere that i also need to plug the fan shroud off.
Anything else that will be good to know about?

You might have to have a Muffler Shop do some custom fabrication, but that is what's done on cars. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

The VS exhaust will work with the larger/lower heat exchangers from #1 & #3.
It doesn't mate up to the smaller heat exchangers from #2 & #4.
VS makes both flanged and slip fit J tubes for the Type 3 exhaust - if you go that route - probably easier to buy them with the muffler.

Mine went in on my '70 Fastback with absolutely no problem. Heater boxes etc all stock. I still have to change that red hose and refit the big U tube piece, is a bit tight to do, so am just waiting till I can get the car up on a hoist to make it a bit easier !

Thanks everyone, and Qldelsie, its great to see some images to understand how its all going to hook up, i think its just a case of mocking it up on the engine, and seeing what needs to be done. _________________ https://www.instagram.com/rustback71

Yes, I mocked mine up while the engine was still on a stand, so I knew what I needed to do once engine was in the car. |

jonnyjungle, in case you have trouble sourcing the red SCAT aircraft ducting, you can buy it from aircraft maintenance and supply shops, usually found at most small airfields. Only trouble I found was that they tend to have it in long lengths, which costs $$$. So I found this online place called Skyshop, https://www.skyshop.com.au They sell it by the foot, and I was able to just buy the two feet I needed.
Search "SCAT Aircraft Ducting on their page, and then the size you want is 2 1/4" ID, Part No 05-29909. It is actually SCAT -9
