I know this has been discussed before, but please be kind to those who ask a question that has been previously discussed (sometimes ad nauseum). Samba is the leading forum for those who love these old vans, and a treasure trove for many. But the search feature here is not always obvious or intuitive. Posting a link to a previous forum discussion on the topic is far friendlier and helpful. And yes, I know the old saying about teaching a person to fish… _________________ “Most everyone’s mad here. I find one of the quickest ways to search for a Samba topic is to ask Mr. G. Oggle, for example, "Vanagon shifting problem" And here is what happens.
Then you sift through the dates and relevant information and go to the site. Often other sites are suggested by some of the posters. |

Google has a "site" feature that only searches a specific site.
In the google search box type site:thesamba.com vanagon shifting problem

also, including "samba" in quotes, in the google search box forces the word samba in the results. it's what i always do, well, i always do the verbatim search which is even more specific. _________________ -dan

I’ve used G.Oogle before but had no idea about the site specific trick. Thanks! _________________ 1988 Vanagon Wolfsburg Tin-Top - "Elmo" |

I might be in the minority here, but if I need to search something in The Samba, I always use the internal search function (the one accessible from the menus "Forum"-"Search" at the top of the page). I like the way it gives me great control when searching the overall message or just the title, which forum/author to search and how to group the results (threads vs posts) plus the searched text is always highlighted in the results.
Just realized there's also an "Enhanced by Google" search box in the upper right corner in The Samba menu, I'm assuming i'ts a similar search as if I were using Google directly with "site:thesamba.com"? _________________ 87 Syncro Westy EJ25 ("Tardis")
