On Saturday we celebrated the 40th anniversary ownership of my '56 oval. It was purchased in July 1980 for $150.
I'm not sure which one of us has changed more over the years. And yes, that's still the same Wolfsburg crest! _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Skim, do you remember the vw club Volkomen Strasse? when i was in my early teens i used to hang with the Riverside County chapter, the prez's name was tony....................i remember going to "the show for gold" in the mid 80's |
Hell yeah. The LA Chapter was the host club for the California VW Jamboree. Puff n Stuff was this huge black dude from V.S. that would get on stage and rap about VWs. |
Those were the days when cars like "the brass bug" with its brass plated alloys, "sweet 69" and "rag chop" ruled the shows. |
Hey Guys- Just so you know, they're was no Volkomen Strasse chapter in LA ever! Only OC and Sacramento for a brief moment. I was the president of the the club and I was also the founder. I would have known. We were the official VW Club of the Jamboree tho and we also started/hosted and put on the California Caravan for 5-6 years. As well as being the host club for small car specialties VW shows, Inter-shows car shows and Ventura BugJam shows. We were everywhere and really got involved. Many people tried to copy us and some even said they were in our club but wasn't. Just saying. |

Since we are discussing "before and after" ...
Quote: |
A fifteen year old Amish boy and his father were in a mall.
They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.
The boy asked, 'What is this, Father?' The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, 'Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don't know what it is.'
While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button.
The walls opened, and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small numbers above the walls light up sequentially. They continued to watch until it reached the last number. and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order.
Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous 24-year-old blond stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son.....
'Go get your Mother.'

Always wanted to do a thread on my 1962' 15-Window bus I built, but could never find the time. So here's a few pics of it before and after. I stupidly sold it in 2018.
I did 99% of the work including the paint (PPG Concept). I only paid to have the headliner done. 3 1/2 year resto. Deep 6 fuchs, 2180 motor, freeway flyer, Porsche 911 brakes. Matt Miller upholstery, Clara and Greg door panels. Mark LaPiore headliner.
Found in a filed in Missouri where it was being used as a shed to hold chicken feed
Most rust and damage cut out in the middle of the resto...
Done!
And Done!
Interior Front cab
Middle seat seats
Mark's nice hand made headliner...
And a video a good friend did for me of the Bus so you can see more, I've since painted the garage, btw

^^ WOW! That came out beautiful! Do you know where it ended up going to? And the condition it's in? _________________ .

Thanks for the kind words
It went to Wisconsin. The current owner, who's a Porsche guy, recently contacted me about buying it back. I'd have to sell one of my other vehicles to do it, but I'm considering it. His wife really wanted it at the time, so i guess it ran it's course with them...
The condition is as I sold it to them, I think they barely drove it honestly. Older couple. _________________ 1959 Karmann Ghia
