Does anyone know the origin of this 1973 photo ?
I have the brochure " Our Thing Does Your Thing " , but it is not the same picture. I would like to obtain a clean copy of this. I am guessing the pictured seat covers were a 73 VWOA accessory ?

Could it be from a 1974 accessories brochure perhaps ?

I am also curious if anyone has seen the Zebra Stripe VWOA seat covers in person or a reproduction ?

It's from the 1974 Canadian Accessories Brochure.
It's a tad brighter in the American Brochure.

Interesting that the seat covers (item 64 in the US brochure) were not included as an accessory in the Canadian version.

You should contact Mike Basso at Thingparts.com. If anyone has ever seen a NOS set of these it would be Mike. He could also advise you as to how rare these were/are.

Mike said they are rare and extremely hard to find.
It would be not be too hard to recrate them if you could get a good picture of an actual set. Several companies will make custom fabric from a quality digital image. The key would be finding an original set to scan.
I just like the idea of period correct stuff....even if ugly Very Happy

I wonder whether these covers were available in the US? Most of not all accessories in the US were contracted by VWoA and made in the US. Not sure what VWoCanada contracted.

Interesting they're using 1973 Things on a 1974 brochure.

I would love to see a good photo of the Zebra covers, to see what they actually looked like. It is very hard to tell in the accessory image.
Does anyone have a photo ?

I'd assume like all things automotive, they began making the brochures and other advertising well before the new model year was released. Most buyers back then would never care or notice. Only some Samba nerds would pick that out almost 50 years later.
