I'm currently preparing the body of my 62 to be painted, my question is is it better to paint it with the doors on or off? What about fenders, on or off? The body has been completely disassembled and media blasted.

If you do decide to paint fenders and doors off the vehicle, just keep in mind if these parts are painted FLAT, they will look diferent. Most will never know but as you get better in knowing. you will see the difference. If they are painted like they hang, you will get an unnoticible paint job. Just remember, PAINT AS THEY WOULD HANG regardless of whether the parts are on or off the vehicle.

Wheel607's point is spot on. I just did mine with both off. The Fenders, decklid & hood IMO off is better. The door i am mixed over. This time i did take them off but i am not looking forward to putting them back on without chipping paint.

That would suck going through all the pain associated with painting the vehicle and then chipping something putting it back together.
I want to ensure the inside of the fenders are painted so thats why I thought painting them off would be best.

For one...I am just a backyard painter, but with the jobs I have done I hang everything so I get an even looking spray. I hung the fenders loosely with just the fender bolts in a couple turns so the spray would get behind the fender lip. I also sprayed my door jams first. Just my 2 cents, but I am sure there are much better painters than me that could give you more insight.

Paint doors off the car so you can get great results on the bottoms and the inside frames and jams. Paint fenders off so you can get a good amount of paint on the inside of the fenders and also on the edges where it bolts to the body. that goes for the deck lid and the bonnet. Paint body separately so that you spray all the places the fenders will bolt onto. Of course to do a proper job all the glass is removed. With doors off it's easier to do the inside of the car.
Now that everything is shot reassemble the doors and fenders decklid and bonnet leave the fenders on loose and mask off inside and around window openings so no overspray gets to your new paint inside the car.
Now you can spray all of the body as one piece so you don't get color variation.
