1975 Bus, FI Converted to Dual Carb
I just acquired this 1975 in Vicenza, Italy - US to US sale within the Military community here. The left rear corner of the engine compartment rear apron, the part that snugs up against the seal and engine tin looks like it has been roughly cut and torn out. See photo.
My challenge now is to source a replacement apron or fabricate a replacement. The complication is for the 1975, this was a welded in apron, not a removeable piece like early Bays. I have checked the usual suspects of parts catalogs and can't find the piece. Does anyone have a lead on a source?

it is where a part of the dealer installed air cond. used to be. You need to ask yourself how nice you want your bus. either source a bus being parted out like here on the classifides, or local, (or Busted Bus) and cut out what you need and weld into your bus.....or just bend some tin or sheet metal to fit the hole. For some reason i feel there was a piece of tin that someone made for sale that fit that hole... |

That makes sense. It had aftermarket A/C installed but long since removed. |

If you get rid of the humped tin for the AC then the repair becomes very easy, especially if you can find the flatter Type 4 car tin.
This is just a flat piece of metal glued and screwed into place
This is a Type 4 car left rear corner tin, since it is fairly flat it is easy to fabricate if you can't fine one.
