I think those are supposed to keep the back in place until you flip the bottom forward. |

The seatback clip on my 72 seemed to work fine until I sold it to a guy in SLC. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

here's a random question, if you have the camping hinges, can the seat ONLY be used as a bed/large cargo area? or can it still be flipped forward like a stock seat? |

No, but you are to have the chains, which are different than the ones to hold up the edge in camping mode. There is a manual on Toby's site, which I can find later if you or someone else does not find it. _________________ Please consider I am Autistic, so I process information differently and still working on social skills. So, how do get them to work? |
It's been about 15 years, but...
Those two fingers, when pressed by the seat bottom, lock the back in place. Flipping the bottom forward releases the pressure on the two finger latches, so the back can then just be flipped forward.
If this isn't working, clean and lube the latch/fingers so they do.

With the camp hinges you can use it either way. Still fully functional as flipped forward like stock as well as the super long lay down ability. Mine will definetly be useful for future road/surf trips. |

So if I push the lever under the seat down and it only lays forward a few inches before getting stuck then something isn't disengaging in the lever correct? Should I just unbolt it from the sides. I can feel it catching or something on that latch in the center. 1964 Sqaureback _________________ Building quality HWE style racks for your Type 2 Kahuna Metal Works.
