Just to be clear: I didn't really take the meme all that seriously but when you posted "can't argue with that" in response to the meme I felt the silly urge to post that yes, it could indeed be argued with. That's all. Meme or not, I think it would be just as funny but more factual it i read something like: Turbo lag, the brief moment when the other guy thinks he still has a chance... Or something like that.

Hi Luke, haven't got the heads and manifolds back from torben yet so it's still gathering dust right now. 😐

Exciting stuff.
What work has been done and what are the expected gains?

Will wait and see once I have it back together but hopefully a worthwhile increase.

Very close now to finding out how much we have gained

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Intakes now 44mm. Ports straightened. Exhaust rockers switched to 1.25s. Intake manifolds greatly improved and correctly shaped. Cam advanced 2 degrees. Map sensor added.

Old dyno reading was 155hp, shooting for 170 now and better mid range.

They look spicy Twisted Evil
Look forward to results from this one. How do you imagine it should compare to the generic FK8/86b kinda builds with off the shelf heads?

I really couldn't tell you as its my first and only hot engine. The aim was to get everything to work together as best we could, it wasn't a bad engine to begin with really but should definitely be quite a bit better now.
Stuff like the intake manifolds being corrected should help, the IE ratio will be closer to ideal with the 1.25s on exhausts. The porting work should help airspeed. Better ring seal with properly honed cylinders. So long as I get it tuned correctly it should be much nicer all over.
I should get to find out over the coming weekend 😁

Once it's up and running we're looking at building a better exhaust system that should help a little more.

I think it's fair to say we have made some decent improvements, clutch won't hold above 4k in second or third. And it's still not fully tuned.

Near disaster has stopped play for a few days though, the oil pump to filter hose blew off the pump! I won't be using push lok fittings again.
