Thanks Jason.

Had to ask on the holes because they are too perfectly centered to not be factory. No obvious drilling evidence under side either. Guess the holes could be filled. Otherwise it is identical to one without them. Doubt I would do the bling cover.

Thanks EB and Bob for the help figuring out the plate light. Will be good to know what is Correct.
This car is lacking the body trim, painted rear reflector housings etc. I was under the assumption it is an N model. But I am a T3 Noob, let alone all the Early quirks and differences. I am clueless.

The "S" and "N" designations started in 64 - the 63 didn't have chrome rear reflector housings or side body trim.

Compressor motor is cooked, but I was able to make it run long enough to get the bottom half of the tank blasted.

2 tiny pinholes I brazed up and also brazed the FI return.

I think you'll be fine, until you grind the weld around it. Wink

Welp, She's a Leaker.
But not from my welding and grinding Skilz.
Leaked from an Oopsie while cutting the halves apart on the late tank. I knew it was there but did not think that is deep enough to be of concern.

McmasterCarr goodies. Thin steel bar to replace the rusty lower screw part joining the pop out frame and an M3.5 tap. The shorty flat head M3,5 screws will be here tomorrow. Other screws stainless screws are for the pop out hinge to body and headlight ring.

And some high heat silicone duct tube. Like CSP but cheeper. I already have clamps.

McMasterCarr. 60mm $20/ft. Actually though it was going to be black. But silicone is red/orange Neoprene is black. 2-1/4in is the 60mm.
https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/127/279/

Looks like the HT from aircraft spruce is cheaper but had a cart going from mcmaster.

Congrats on the tank. That grind thru could have been bad, but at least you found it early. Nice job on it.

Thanks Andy and Bob,

Yeah, think the Heat made it show on the outside, warped the thin part and made it leak there. I burned into that edge real long and hard all the way round, after tacking the edge every 2in or less to hold shape. Can see by how far it blued. I got some sunburn too. Laughing

Hello Rome,
Have been slowly getting a few things on the car done but needed to get other work caught up. Did some other things in the house during the heat wave.

August seemed to be the month of shop Toys too. I scored a used 80gal compressor, Quincy QT-5 pump, Dayton industrial motor with a mag starter. Had to take it apart to get it home. Sooo, while it's apart.... I rebuilt the pump and motor. Was a good call because it did have small chip in a high pressure reed valve and almost an inch of Sludge in crankcase that an oil change and even a flush could not get out. Been looking for a large 2 stage for some time and I already wired a receptacle for one. Now I needed shop air plumbed... 300ft of tubing, 12 supply drops installed and all drops have drip legs with valves. And a couple days ago I dug out the hose reels from old shop and plumbed and hung them up. Air tools really haven't been used since I moved and been in this shop. So all those tools were brought back to life. Have an older Hazet 3/8in drive air impact that was actually seized up, fixed that up. Changed over all the air lines and tools to the European style high flow couplers. Sheesh, that alone cost more than all the plumbing supplies for the ship air.
Older Craftsman 16spd floor drill press came in the compressor deal. Because the way I am, the drill press was taken apart, cleaned, greased, lubed and squared up.

Spent too much time "trying to" clean up and re-organizing the shop to get the new equipment in. Blast Cabinet was also moved from basement garage to the detached Shop. But at times the mess just got bigger. Took apart a running 1.5 diesel engine to scrap because no one would buy it or even come to get it. So it went Away.

There were a couple Old British cars I had to get running for a friend. I hate British cars...
Local buddy is restoring a 71 high-top camper for his son. I helped with wiring on that.
Old 60gal compressor under house garage ended up needing a motor. While installing the new motor was when I got a call that the 80 gallon compressor came available. Just my luck...
Had a 75 camper I did some work on but been sitting over a year. Someone had to have it... Revived that and it went away.

Good friend gave me an old Safety-Kleen parts washer and this Williams Dealer style engine stand. Stand was in bad condition, rusty base and legs. Got it cleaned up, painted and went with some good locking casters to make it mobile.

Yesterday the same Good friend just dropped off one of these. Looks exactly the same but not the actual bike. This one dated 72 on VIN, titled as 73. The last plate registration and safety inspection are 1974. Yeah, One Year on the road.... Has 184 Original Miles. Shocked Crazy
I need to get it running. Then Maybe have more time on the Notch.

Sorry for the non Type 3 babble but just some of the highlights (excuses?) of whats been happening here.

Looks like you've been busy. Nice. Cool I wish I'd gotten that far along with my projects. I feel like I've been doing a Brian Fye, and just looking and thinking about them, instead of actually working on them. At least I brought the Notch up from, out back while it was still dry, as it's a swamp out there now(we were moving 1 of Rob's cars, and half buried my Geo). It's still out there in 4 inch deep ruts. Need to wait for it to freeze again. Maybe before Christmas we'll get it back up front. Laughing

Thanks Michael and Bob.

Not much for details and detailed pics of things... like an ahour into shortening and threading some NOS Kamax bolts to fit the front shocks. I should post a pic of those. Have some odd ball NOS hardware in the stash and those suited the need. Stuff takes too much time.

Need to paint the heat exchangers and put exhaust on engine and that will be ready to install on the wheelbarrow.

Dreading dropping the car back on 4 wheels cause I know its goiing to be lopsided on every corner.

Some gifts donated to the cause came with a visit from a good friend.
One NOS Gray BOGE front shock, found another single in the classifieds for a good price.
NOS German boge steering damper. I have 3 older NOS CoFap brazil but he insisted I needed an NOS German one. Very Happy
and a Nice bumperette.
So he gets a $0.00 repair bill on this clock. Second one I have repaired this year.

Headliner arrived cause I am not doing the window seals 2X... But now I got to install a #$%^&%$%^$#!! Headliner.

Another note... Did one quarter window inner seal. Not really liking the thick lip on the seal covering up the frame. Might trim flush to show more "chrome" of the frame. Thoughts?

Had to make 2 of the threaded bars for the 3.5mm screws for the popout frames. More time no one will ever know or see. LOL.
