I have the RMW cone filter style intake on my Suby 2.5 conversion. It's noisy during acceleration or at speeds above 60mph. I'm thinking about changing to the RMW air box. Has anyone done this switch? I'm wondering if it will quiet things down a bit.

I am running the RMW air box and have not had any issues. It fits nicely and I run a air tube up the drivers side rear to the side air vent for intake. _________________ 1967 L633 VW beetle (currently being restored...slowly)

Another vote for a stock Subaru airbox coupled to a diesel snorkel (they fit the left side). Using the diesel connecting hose (it is internally damped) will also make it quieter.
Note: exhaust headers that are not installed completely tension free make a very similiar sound. _________________ Schau in das Buch |

Are there any water drains on the dirty side of the RMW air box? It doesn't look like it and there should be. |

I bought the RMW filter box. It's a very nice quality product. I installed it a couple weeks ago. So far it seems quieter.
RMW also recommended that we change to their Stealth muffler to make it even more quiet. We haven't installed it yet.
We have a trip planned in a couple weeks so more data later. _________________ Patrick Brown

Trip report: After 1300 miles down and back up the West coast, I can definitely say that the RMW filter box is great. The van is way quieter than with the cone filter. I can listen to the stereo and have a conversation with the person next to me. _________________ Patrick Brown

We have a Vanaru and it had the cone style filter. It clogged after a not very long spell on a dusty road.
We replaced it with a North Westy box.
This sort of solution, of which there are various options, would be better than the cone-style K&N, which I see Vanaru no longer uses. _________________ 88 Westy, '07 EJ25 Vanaru.
