Spent a lot of time sanding, cleaning and painting the control arms. I'm glad it's done. They are not as nice looking as they came from Kevin, but so what Wink

They are now modified as I wanted, some issues corrected and water and dirt will definitely not crawl under plastic dip.

Thank you Antoine!

All suspension parts are ready for installation now. I have been working on my oxyboxer in parallel also.

I will run my oil cooler lines inside the tunnel and will hold them in three places. I bougt hydraulic pipe brackets and profiled them to make them match the surface inside the tunnel.

Very slow progress Embarassed ... but at least progress Wink

Lars, are you planning to cut the tunnel open, or 'post' them in from the existing holes?
Looking forward to seeing how you do it Question

you might want to consider counter sunk machine screws so less sticks out under the car:

Hi Ian, I will pull them into the tunnel with the oil hoses, no cutting planned Smile Button head screws, screwed from the bottom, will hold them in place.

I will machine some sleeves that will keep the holders together until the main screw is in place.

Cheers
Lars

Ian, after trail assembly I will have the pan acid dipped and than cathodic dip coated to get paint into all areas.

After that, I plan on painting it with Brantho-Korrux "3 in 1" 2 or 3 layers.

Today I made the sleeves that keep the holders together, arround the hose. I will pull them in place with the hose, to bolt them down where they belong - so I hope Wink

the little flair and the captive nut are both very clever ideas to hold it all together, and be able to fasten it from the outside. Good luck when you feed it through Smile

Thank you Ian - yep, let's hope assembly goes as planned.

Final touches to the pan today included holes for dipping and waxing, oil and fuel lines and everything deburred, cleaned and ground flat...

another BIG milestone, (it just sounds odd in Euro speak 'kilometer stone' Laughing ). Doing the complete assembly is slow but the only way to avoid hacking up paint etc. when you discover the small problems.

One small thing, the shims for the Mendeola front arms are steel and rust, you can get stainless ones made in a few thicknesses that will let you set the arms up more accurately as well. I'm sure there are European shim makers but if not, Chris at http://www.precisionshims.com.au can make whatever you want in 304 stainless.

I love the pictures, keep going Smile

Ian, thank you! I bought stainless shims right after disassembling the original ones Wink

And agree, kilometerstein just doesn't sound right - mile stone is much better Laughing

Cheers

Front end parts are all assembled, for the first time Very Happy . Also the rack fits nicely and the geometry seems to be working out together with the up-side-down tie rods. Nothing adjusted and mesured yet...

Brakes are CSP wide 5 (5×205), so I can maintain original looking wheels Twisted Evil

The steering needs some shortening of the tie rods... haven't decided how, but this should't be a problem.

The CSP brakes require a 21mm main brake cylinder when combined with rear discs. The cylinder CSP sells for this purpose needs a 15mm thick spacer on the outside of the napoleon hat.

I did not like the idea of a spacer and shortened the brake rod by 15mm instead.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Also had to clock the brake cylinder somewhat to make it fit and clear everything... done!

The bolt on, adjustable stop for the pedals is too short. The early pan for this year pedals has the stop welded onto the floor. I will make a new one or lenghthen the stop, not sure yet...

I'm pretty happy with the progress Razz

Thank you for reading
