Crappy interior panel fitment, rusty door-hinge screws abound (with some new ones sprinkled in), and what looks like rust stains below/around the windows, and possibly water stains on the floor mat. Unload it before it starts to rot real good.

Turd alert. Look at picture number 50, hope this is not indicative of the rest of the body work!

Looks like that door was used as a backstop for .22 shorts. A lot of .22 shorts. |

$110 for a cap, rotor, points, and wires. Wow.
I have known the owner of Euro Union for well over 20 years. That sort of pricing does surprise me a little bit.
Plenty of things stick out with this bus, but right off the bat I notice the chrome cylinder tin on the 1-2 side. Interesting detail.
For what it's worth, my wife grew up in the town where this bus sits. She calls it hell, at least in months other than winter. _________________ nothing |

Some of those parts prices(!)
I think they took their cost and doubled it.
$40 for some random air cleaner hose that's wrong too when you can buy the right one for $28

The hours stated for some of that work seem a bit crazy too...
I'm slow on doing stuff but a shop taking 2 hours to replace the axle boots? WTF. _________________ How to Post Photos

That kombi went for over $35k with a cargo door that looked like it went through a SWAT team action. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

The condition of which was not hidden from the bidders. What should it have sold for? _________________ nothing |

Never said it was hidden, just amazed what people will pay for a kombi with that shitty of a level of bodywork. But good on the owner, I doubt he’d get $25k for it here. But here is not BAT. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

No doubt BAT is the premium selling spot for some marques/models. Definitely in the eye/ heart of the two high bidders.
I see wildly disparate ending bids for certain models I follow closely, mostly 912's.
This 1967 Kombi was actually quite decent, but a couple places could really have been metal worked MUCH better. It would take me about 2 hours work to make that door bottom only need about 1/4 of the amount of bondo. A lot longer to make the structure (inner door) perfect.
Certainly similar for the driver's side rear wheel house damage.
And yes, it makes one wonder what other messes are completely hidden.
My personal philosophy is to leave a few witness marks, just to show a subsequent nit picker: "yes, it was damaged...how you like my work?"
Is it worth it?
Certainly a better investment than a new ride, with everything plastic and not even able to fix it without dealer machines.
Is it worth it?
It was to one bidder. _________________ Al Brase

Look at this rusty, bondoed up turd. It’s pretty bad when Kline points it out on a budget engine rebuild receipt.

I am not qualified critizising other's work: I don't know how to weld, I never hold a welder, I was cheated by an "expert" restorer for my first bus. But do you agree this one is just a horrible bus, isn't it?
I don't like flies, but maybe BAT thought that if you looked the fly in pictures 20-23 , you shouldn't see the bad rust under windshields?
Sorry for wasting your time, but I had to say it.

Yes, wow. Getting closer to the "bring a trailer" name sake.
Like getting the alternator to charge was just a bridge too far? (what's that taped up blue wire?)
And that engine install, wow.
Ought to be against the law to work on it and not make the heaters work. You touch the parts, you own the liability.
I lived in San Diego. Fog every morning, need defrosters.
I sorta thought BAT was trying to weed out the dishonest cars. "Of COURSE it's a bondoed up turd. A given. That's what we thought you wanted. _________________ Al Brase

Wowsers... it looks like they masked literally nothing... the engine has enough overspray on it that you might be temped to think they were trying to color match it to the body...
and the gas gauge..
and did they fill one of the wiper arm holes or did they just put the paint on so thick it closed it up?
Just gross... |
