Hey everybody, im mike from Germany and I recently bought myself my all-time dreamcar, a early coupe.
Its a 1958 lowlight in cardinal red in pretty good shape for its years.
It was sold to California and now came back to Germany.
Already has a Airride, a narrow beam and some empi wheels, but im not really happy with the wheels.
But here it is:
(Will post more pictures when I work on it)

Welcome Mike! Beautiful Ghia and the stance is awesome! Those are pretty classic wheels and they look good on that car, but I can understand wanting to change them. It's like a woman with shoes, they kind of make the look of the outfit.
Can't wait to see more of this lowlight!

Willkommen zum Samba, Mike. Did the Ghia's suspension modifications (narrowed front beam, airride, non-original wheels, etc.) cause any problems with your insurance or registration process, and especially with the TUeV?
That right side mirror is probably useless for you as driver to see anything behind you. When I fitted a mirror to the right side of my '64 Ghia, I mounted it near the front edge of the door. Much better and useful field of vision. Then I relocated the driver's mirror to the door also, but that was before the car was painted so that the 2 original mounting holes in the fender were easily covered. |

Danke and yeah, the mirrors were installed by the previous owner and you're right the passengers mirror is useless. I will change it to the original schwanenhals on the left and no mirror on the right side.
the TÜV in Germany is awful but you can get a "classic car collectors" registration when you own more then one classic car and then you can run cars like these pretty much legal haha. well, kind of legal. |

started to polish the old paint and I am pretty happy about the patina the car has.
also happy with the bumpers after hours of polishing.
at a friends garage (you can spot a splitbus there)
and my mum gave me her old roof rack from her 1969 Ghia she owned before I was born:
Painted the front fenders to match them a bit better to the rest of the car:
But noticed that somethings wrong there.
Unfortunately it has wrong wheel cuts from an younger model.
I did not know that the lowlights have smaller wheel cuts. Anyway, I already ordered all the repair sheets. Hopefully I get them welded in and painted this winter. |

As i found out that my wheel arches have been changed to younger models, i decided to get that fixed and correct.
It was also missing the karmann badge on the right side.
I already got all the metal parts:
Now im searching for the correct chrome and badges.
Meanwhile i shot some pictures at my buddies garage:

Your buddy's garage is spectacular. I would love a hangout place like that to have friends and cars over. Fantastic! _________________ The older I get... The faster I was... |

X2!! I was going to say the same thing. Looks like an awesome place to park a bunch of old VW's, fire up the grill, and hang out!
