Any idea who bought the 86 Syncro Tin Top for 7K in Redwood City. Not a great van but worth 7K.
Seller sold it to first caller. There were 4 of us there at 2PM, only one drove the deal of the day away and it was not me.

Not at all sure if this is "good" or a "deal" but I got first place inquiring about. Seems not to mean anything to the supposed seller though, even though I mentioned I could go with them to that farm "Monday, when I can get more pictures, if there is any interest" .. Well, like I need yet another. [oh, forgot, I need at least 2 for each of my kids, so they don't fight]
Anyways, sure seems like I've seen that photo before, too scammy. But, what if?!?!?

looks clean because it's a fresh respray..
see that rear trailing arm pivot painted red.
I mean sure, it's a syncro Westy for $25k and looks nice..
cherish it for 3-5years. keep it parked indoors away from as much moisture as possible then sell it first sign of bubbling from under the paint..
Ohh there it is.. starting to bubble.

1987 Vanagon Westfalia pop-top camper, with Syncro 4WD and rear locker. $25,000
It has the propane stove and fridge and catalytic heater, pop-top bed, and rear seat bed.
5-speed manual with granny low first gear.
Engine has around 20,000 miles since rebuild.
Body has about 250,000 miles.
If you're looking at this ad, you probably know what a great camper this thing is- take it up Jeep trails, then pop the top and make dinner for the fam. My dad has owned this Vanagon for a couple of decades, but doesn't drive any more so has decided to part with his favorite vehicle. Body is in great shape- one seam is starting to bubble and will need addressed-he had it painted a few years ago. Some minor surface rust under neath that can be cleaned up and protected. Original interior in good condition. Everything works except for the air conditioner- when the shop rebuilt the engine they tossed the compressor to "make more power" without asking! It is road worthy and is in good condition for its age. Inspected and appraised by Urabus in Buena Vista. I have a list of repairs that need to be made to bring it back to great condition. If you are planning on coming in from out of state and driving home the pinion seal leak should be repaired and tires might be a concern because they are 7 years old. Serious inquiries only please, I am a mechanic and can answer any questions you might have. I am helping my Dad sell this so to finalize a deal we will have to coordinate to have him here. |

That's a really good deal just for the parts. Tempting. Pop top and interior are easily worth 3k. _________________ '87 Syncro

this one can run the roads again...

That looks like one that could be saved if it's not all rusted underneath. _________________ Currently:

That's a good "I'm in the middle of nowhere, make the trip from Seattle" price. I doubt it's rusted very much either. Looks in decent shape. _________________ '87 Syncro

Alot of spendy parts on this rig. I emailed him and if available I think I'll buy it, flip the good parts onto my '91 tin-top, then sell it.
