Yes, very happy we decided to go with it!
Still seems like it needs to scooch in about 1/4 inch. The vent holes are not lined up fully and the speaker grill does not settle down fully. Waiting until we solve that to put in the grab handle. I’m thinking a little liquid soap and a nylon pry to push up the rubber and get it under? _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Brother-in-law (a car guy since birth) was *stunned* by the quality of our car!
We went for a ride and I told him he was the first person who knows anything about cars who has driven with me in it. I asked him for any advice— he said he was really impressed in the how the car looked and drove. Suggested that the ride might be a little soft and I might have shocks put on it. I said that that was probably something I could do but he wasn’t convinced… until I showed him how far I had torn down the front end.
I can imagine it might need shocks but it doesn’t seem to continue to move when I push on it. I would suggest that he might not know how Ghias should feel but he told me he had one back in the 60s (another sad tale of someone plowing through him and ending that relationship). _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Straight from an iPhone 12 Pro Max, no editing.
I think John probably puts in a bit more effort but appreciate the sentiment Moogie! _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Loved the run through the covered bridge. So many up there by you. I always hit the one off the 7 when I'm running at Lime Rock. <thumbs up> _________________ The older I get... The faster I was... |

Read that clunk in rear wheel could be loose axle nut:
Link
Pulled the wheel, and, yes indeed, the axel nut was loose. Tightened it and then realized the conundrum— the hole for the cotter pin is not accessible when torqued to 217. So, I believe that the procedure in this case is to loosen it until it does. I am hoping I got that wrong but will have to tighten it appreciably more that 217 to get at the hole the other way.
In any case, we are off the road until this gets sorted out. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

First torque to spec, then torque until you can put the cotter pin in.
If it's only a very short way backwards, maybe that would be fine. But middle way through? Tighty tighty
