The 1915 runs really well but I think the heads are too big for it (42x37.5 044's) so instead of buying new smaller valve heads I'll just build a bigger motor, doesn't that make sense? besides, this motor is to narrow for the tin so I'm making it a little wider.

Still acquiring motor parts and some suspension parts to address a couple of issues that I know will pop up once the power goes up. Most likely I'll pull the motor out later this month and rebuild over the summer, it's way to hot here to cruise around in an old VW in July & August. I also picked up the last couple of pieces I need to complete the nitrous system.

It's opposite up here in Ohio, these are the best cruising months. All the cars are coming out now. Looking forward to the drag build and learning some things about GO.

Ticking little jobs of the list slowly. I decided to ditch the old broken VDO cable drive speedo, had no luck finding a replacement or a shop to repair it without charging an arm and a leg so I found an inexpensive gps unit on Amazon to try out before I pony up big bucks for the VDO.

Next job was mounting the MSD to something solid, picked up a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate and bolted it under the back opposite the battery, a few nutserts later and my 6AL is bolted down solid. While I was in there I added an additional 4 gauge power wire to the front, I didn't want it to be constantly hot so i also installed a relay triggered by the key and a circuit breaker just in case.

The additional power was necessary because I added/am adding H4 headlights, 2nd fuel pump for nitrous, nitrous, line lock and plan to add a Bluetooth amp, all of this will be powered through a secondary fuse block, and relay panel (with room for the amp I hope).

I'll get this all mounted up and wired a little at a time once I mount the plate up front.
Finally got around to installing the rear bump stops and mid mount, I needed this done since the the plan is to pull the motor out later this week and add the 76mm crank and rods I bought last spring.

Motors out and apart, need to make some room for the rod bolts, thought they would clear but no. Should be back together in a couple of days and back in.

Going 76 x 94 with 5.325 H beam rods, have .037 deck with 60cc chambered heads (42x37.5) so about 9 to 1 compression, reusing the K8 cam thats been in there for the past 30 years.

So it's all back together and running, runs pretty well lots more bottom end, sounds good too, started it up at first with an open stinger, love the sound. Figured I would clean up the wiring a little while I was at it so I did, re-routed some stuff so it would look cleaner and bundled up a couple of different harnesses for the ignition and engine stuff, oil temp & nitrous, just need to clean up the plug wires, maybe some permanent clips to the shroud, might be hard to find for 8.5mm wires. I've been driving it around a little without a deck lid, I'll grab some pics before I put it back on. Next up will be the extra electrical stuff up front and getting a fuel line to the back, always something on the list.

This is the most recent pic from before I pulled it apart, gives you an idea of the wiring chaos and the lack of fasteners in the tin because it fit so poorly.

I spent some time getting the tin to fit well enough that the holes would line up and it could be bolted in place. You can also barely see that now all of the wiring enters the engine bay from the same location in stead of 3 different locations.

I wanted to replace the cheap nyloc fasteners with some quality nuts, could have just gone with some standard hardware but I thought that was a little boring so i rounded up some 12 point chromoly nuts, now all of the M8 case nuts are 12 points except the manifold nuts which are the Empi 10mm flange nuts and the exhaust which are copper lock nuts. I will eventually replace the ones on the carbs with 12 points too. All of the M6 fasteners are now stainless Allen's

So here is the finished product, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Last thing left for the back half of the cars is to run the nitrous fuel line and mount the regulator, have everything I need, pumps already installed and the wiring is run and terminated for both the pump and the solenoids. I think I might mount the regulator out of sight, have to look closer to see if there's a good spot once the fuel line is run.

Started wiring the nitrous and line lock, I didn't want to drill a bunch of holes to mount relays, terminals, amp and whatever else I add so I'm installing this stuff to a plate and just bolting that into the trunk, started by mounting and wiring the relays and terminals. This will be where it gets mounted.
