Hello. My family and I are looking into relocating to the Columbia, SC area. Are there any good aircooled VW shops around? How about VW clubs and shows? Thank you for your input. |

I was stationed at Fort Jackson for US Army basic training in 1971 - enjoyed going to Colombia, with Spanish moss growing in the trees and warm winters - was not into VWs, back then - was a MOPAR man - all I remember is getting my crotch eaten alive during "night-fire", crawling on the ground in full gear - by man-eating chiggers - never heard of a chigger, till then, being a Jersey-boy and a little too conservative, for me too - nice parta' the country though - good luck - z _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I'm in Charleston and haven't had much luck finding a very active VW community here, but I also haven't made as much an effort as possible. There is a guy here in Charleston that puts on an event near Orangeburg twice a year, the next is mid-November. It's a VW car show and drag race that looks like a good time and I'm hopeful I'll be able to finally make it this fall. Here's a link to it:

I'm sure there would be plenty of people there that could provide more information about the Columbia area.
Good luck in Columbia if your family decides to make the move! _________________ 71 Westfalia
