Thats the entry fee to level two hackage. Level one was giving up on the stock configuration thinking there is something better. _________________

Well it’s funny that this posting is still up 19 days later. So much for having “ a lot of interest” at that price.
Hmmmm, me thinks not. Or that interest quickly evaporates when actually looked at. _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Zappa

unless you know someone or something....the days of the cheap bus is over. |
This latest bunch of posts drives home just how lucky we were: I knew someone who was "going to get to it someday" after sitting in his barn for 20 years when a valve cratered into a head (he didn't know what was wrong, just that the engine wasn't running on all cylinders). Coincidentally I had made a deal with my daughter at graduation a few years earlier that I'd match her funds when she was ready and we'd find a bus. I'd run into Keith every few months and rib him about him getting going on fixing his bus, one time he said "wanna buy it?" and $850 later it came home. He's a real nice guy, knew our deal and that we'd finish the bus and keep it long term. Complete, everything there, even the original porcelain flower vase. Upside is that his "barn" is dry and climate controlled so the bus isn't perfect but in very good condition. Today's basic drag-it-out-of-the-weeds bus values blow my mind, it sucks that folks with just a few bucks to spend can't even get a basic runner.
I was moaning with some guys on another car site yesterday about the $100 reliable transportation we all used to drive in the 70's and yeah, those days are long gone too. _________________ Take care,

New battery tray, driver side new rocker, all new door and glass rubber, all new ball joints, all new brakes complete, rear axle rebuilt, new bearings, all good German parts. Runs great. $25,000 |

This '78 for $35,000. Has a tacky wrap, and by their own admission, it needs paint if the wrap is removed. It says "completely redone inside", but what that really means is "nothing original left inside". Someone used some scrap plywood and 2x4's to make a bench and cabinet, and a cart load of finishings from Bed, Bath, & Beyond to really pull the whole look together.
I'd think a completely redone interior would have some wall and hatch panels, seat stand mats, and kick panels at a minimum. And I'm guessing the cheap seat covers mean the upholstery underneath isn't good?
But it does have the kind of look most of the Instagram "van life" people are looking for, so I'm sure someone will buy it. But I'm guessing it will be a lot closer to the $20,000 mark. |

Not sure if I can whine about this seeing as it’s a New England bus and probably should be in worse shape, but as usual, the description of the body is way off.
https://nh.craigslist.org/cto/d/hampton-1970-vw-westfalia-camper/7373909677.html
Frame is solid. Non structural body has a few small holes that need sanding and fixing.
A few small holes? Like doglegs, and corners, and wheel arches, and……but other than that….solid! Ahhh….no. _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. Maybe he meant $7500?
That thing is about a year from showing major rust issues. I bet the new owner would have to deal with just about every panel below the belt line. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

On the plus side, he's showing the rust spots and not just the lipstick on this pig.
Oh wait..... there's no lipstick to be found on that one. _________________ -Kent-

Yeah he's at least 10k over on his asking price.. She's crusty, who knows what the paint is hiding, and the interior is from a later westy which isn't a big deal but if I were to buy one of these early bays I would want correct interior. |

Mustard vinyl is correct for a '70, so is the sink & jump seat. I have one. Cutting down the closet and leaving the rest is kinda dumb, didn't really eliminate the blind spot.
That thing is a hidden tinworm nightmare. "Minor bugs" lol. _________________ 1979 Transporter (sold)
