Interesting, I see only one bus with US spec bumpers. And that light grey kombi and double cab are delicious... |
I saw the DC as light grey and the kombi looked like primer to me since it didn't seem to reflect the lights like all the rest of the buses..either way, what a sweet photo!!

I blew up the image and looked again, and I think you're right. It also appears that the kombi has black wheels, which means it is likely a primered bus to be painted by the purchaser. _________________ nothing |

I asked a long time ago if anyone had ever used the case hole to lift an engine.
It appears those lifting harnesses attach to that hole. Or not? Click on aerosilver's post photo then click again to enlarge then look at the lone engine behind the purse-woman's butt.

Ditto. I made a similar sling that attaches to that tab and a hole in the crank pulley. Works great, I use an overhead winch on an I beam. |
Is lifting by the pulley hard on the snout crank bearing? Has it ever hurt the pulley? |

I think it means fit safari windows, it's got the mounts, the others don't. |

I think it's a camera bag around his shoulder |
Yep, I think you're right. At first glance I only saw the shape of the case. A closer look reveals an obvious strap. _________________ nothing |

I wonder what he's doing?, final idle adjustment before it goes out the door?
Look at that pile of seats in the background. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I wondered the same thing but then found the article.
"Hey, du tust so, als würdest du in diesem Bus arbeiten. Um was zu tun? schnapp dir einfach was".
Hey you act like your working on that bus. And do what? Just grab anything. _________________ 1951 Split Standard Hoffman Build

I looked really closely and Yes, I think it might be staged as he's not touching anything and has no tools?
Unless he's pulling or installing a spark plug wire on the distributor cap.
I absolutely love this photo though as it's clearly a 54-55 Deluxe and you can really see the colors and plating of everything on the engine.
It's weird that the rubber bumper trim isn't installed yet. _________________ How to Post Photos

Maybe that was one of the jobs for the PDI guy at the dealer?, they can't get marked in transit if they are riding inside. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Are there any good images out there of the stuff on the side of the assembly line waiting to be installed? Either as the focal point or off to the side but close enough to see. The stacks of whatever is next to go on the vehicle.
The guy in the engine compartment for instance you can see the seats in the background pretty well. _________________ 1964 Original Owner build Thread. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=702135&highlight=
