I am looking for a 8 Volt battery that I can use on my 66 Fasty 6 volt system. I don't want to change 6 to 12 volt. Help?

The Optima 6v battery is your best bet for a 6v car.

any of the farm supply places are good for 6V batteries
you need to make sure your charging system and grounds are good for proper voltage

you can use an 8v, you will need to tweek the voltage regulator a bit to charge it. you will have brighter lights and faster wipers, but also may burn through points and coils and lights faster... better tractor shops sell the 8v battery - most are durastart HD-1 8v model - I would stick with 6v, it's already hard enough to find 6v batteries I can't imagine 8v being produced much longer

Optima is the way to go. I found this interesting info on the optima website regarding where to buy them:

All OPTIMA battery, charger and maintainer resellers on eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, Offerup, Amazon or Wal-Mart 3rd parties (unless it is SHIPPED & SOLD by Amazon or Wal-Mart) and any other online marketplace platforms ARE NOT authorized resellers of the OPTIMA family of products, including an individual in Hawaii, named "Tommy," whose phone number ends in 5959. Customers who decide to purchase OPTIMA products from any such marketplace/website would be purchasing from unauthorized resellers. Unauthorized resellers have not been approved by OPTIMA Batteries and therefore do not conform to our strict product handling & customer service requirements.

This means that such marketplace resellers may be selling aged inventory, damaged or used products and/or may be using unapproved packing for shipping. It also means that should you have a service need or warranty claim, they will not provide adequate support. Receipts from marketplaces that have sales dates outside of 180 days of the date of manufacture will not be acknowledged as proof of purchase of a new battery. All OPTIMA Authorized resellers are required to honor the entire warranty period of whatever product is purchased from them. Marketplace resellers who are not authorized retailers, will refer your service needs to someone else. OPTIMA values one on one communication via phone and email and a phone option is a requirement of all authorized resellers. Buyers beware, resellers on Craigslist, eBay & other such sites do not promote this type of communication.

That's funny about "Tommy" Laughing

I have kinda seen this more and more. It used to be that if you had, say a sears diehard battery in your car, you could go to sears and have it tested and if needed, replaced, regardless of having the reciept or if you just bought the car used. they looked at the manufacturing sticker for the date code, and worked with you from that. Interstate still does this as far as I know.

Almost everyone else, you have to be in the computer as buying it, or have the receipt. If you bought a used car with a battery that's failed, too bad even if the battery is only a few months old. Don't buy a battery at Advanced auto either - Don't buy anything where you might have to use their warranty. They are all independently owned and their computers are not linked. If you are traveling and your battery goes bad, Advance has to call the store it was originally purchased at on the telephone and verify who bought the battery and when.

As with many other consumer goods - con artists got more creative so retailers and manufacturers had to respond so as not to lose their figurative shirt.

There really are only two battery companies that make the majority of vehicle batteries: Exide and Clarios (business unit previously owned by Johnson Controls). Clarios owns upwards of 75% of the aftermarket battery market.

Interstate is an interesting company because their batteries have been made by both Exide and Johnson Controls (I used to manage locations that sold Interstate batteries). For the most part, Interstate is easier to get to honor their warranty but that can depend on the distributor for them in your area. They get to make some of those decisions on their own. I was in the middle of the dividing line of two distributors - one was super chill about warranty return/exchange and the other one was a major hassle.

Advance Auto honoring their warranty comes down to if you purchased a battery at a company-owned store - they're not bad - but if you bought from a company owned store and tried to return/exchange it at a franchise, good luck. As a rule, I avoid Advance Auto completely.

Knecht's Auto Parts, our 11 store Oregon company is good!
We use them faithfully.
I just brought in a big 6 year old truck battery bought at another location & they sold me another for $80 with trade in.
My wife loves them since they will install her new wiper blades etc for her!
The kid came out and carried my big battery in & out! Very Happy

Interstate in Burlingame Ca honors 6v battery for 1 year. I had a bad cell after 18 months so I opted for an optima since it’s almost same price.
