Yep. '67 has 8 slots plus the valve hole surrounded by a grommet. '66 has 10 slots and the same valve hole w/grommet. I believe they, too, have the part number stamped on the inner edge. The Lemmerz won't fit the wheels of '66+.

I got my NOS set from him and he was superb to deal with. Put a feeler out and if he doesn't have a set, he can also put feelers out. And get a hubcap puller, too Very Happy

Over the last few days I have been detailing Joan.
The rubber seals looked a bit tired. I read somewhere that glycerin used sparingly works well to rejuvenate the seals. I tried it and it does work very well.
The taillight seals were actually starting to crack so I replaced them.
Still working on a non functioning fuel sender. I determined the gauge is working. I replaced the aftermarket sender with a VDO sender I forgot I had in a parts stash looking for some front hood latch screws.
The VDO sender is date coded 6/66. Unsurprisingly it too did not work. I'm going to disassemble and see if I can overhaul it.
Interestingly the three nut/bolts that hold the front hood latch receiver in place were mismatched. I found the proper phillips/panhead screws.
I find it so randomly odd that for being in such remarkable condition overall that I stumble across things that have been haphazardly fixed (replaced?)
I have a Solex carb rebuild kit sitting on my bench. Joan runs very well but the autochoke is not consistent and I experience some occasional flat spotting on acceleration. Tune up helped but I thing the long term sitting calls for some carb R&R.
The wife and I are attending a fundraiser for a local conservation group on Sunday. They are hosting a car show/brunch. I won't tinker with the carb until she's close to be put away for the season.

The engine bay had seen better days. Took a day to do some detailing. It’s therapeutic!
After driving season is over I’ll tackle the unpainted metal surfaces.
They need some sprucing up.

As I continue to become more familiar with Joan I stumble across minor issues that I would probably let slide or overlook on another Ghia.
Joan is so nearly original that I feel a duty to address and correct the shortcomings.
One of the first things I noticed when it was still at auction were the damaged beauty rings.
Joans are original. The repops do not have to correct finish or have the grommet around the valve stem hole.
Almost immediately I launched a search for NOS rings. theghiagirl suggested “VW Junkies” in the UK as the most probable source. No luck.
This morning a set appeared in the Samba classifieds.I almost spit out my coffee! ISP west has a set!
Very excited that Joan is getting this refresh.
Other items;
The negative battery cable is generic and not the proper flat braided type. One is on its way from Wolfsburg West.
Maybe nitpicking but I removed the seatbelt latch (tunnel stirrup) to polish. I discovered the mounting bolts are wrong. The correct ones are of course one year only shoulder bolts. I was able to source the correct ones.
It’s in the details that make this adventure so exciting.
I think joans new jewelry is going to look great!😎

I use Wurth Rubber Care now. Used to use BMW Rubber Care or GummiPflege. I have used glycerin, too. But the aforementioned you will like better.

According to Seb he only has a couple of sets left out of his original stash which sounded like it was quite substantial. He has a NOS 10 slot and a NOS 9 slot left. I’m not ebven sure I knew their were 9 slots let alone what applications it’s for.
ISP West posted the ones I found on the Samba classifieds. They are a Type 3 specialist. The part # on the rings begin with 311.
I was pretty confident these were an exact match. I confirmed by pulling the trim ring on Joan. Viola! Same part number!
I guess the rings also apply to the Type 34 and 67 type 3’s

My NOS trim rings part number start 141, which is correct for KG and the 10 slots are correct for '66. But perhaps '67 trim rings cross Types between Type 3 and KG, I don't honestly know. But eight slots is correct, as is the gummy grommet around the air valve hole. If it fits your wheels and accommodates the wheel covers, then you are in good shape! Especially if the trims you removed have the same part number Wink

This prompts me to look it up in the parts book. The section 4 Road wheels and drums names it a "Rim Embellisher" There are three versions

Part# 141 601 155 which is exclusive to Karmann for the Ghia and Beetle Cabriolet. (type 151 & 152). This has eight slots and fits the dome hubcap and applied from Chassis 6 081 462 up to 145 999 000, which seems to be from mid '64MY to end of '65MY.

Part# 141 601 155 B is unique to the "66MY. This is the 10 slot trim unique to that year for cars with 5 stud wheels. It also shared with the Ghia and Beetle Cabrio with some M codes....M218/M87; M118/M88; M118/M137.

Part#311 601 155. is from '67MY to "69MY. This is the 8 slot trim for Ghias, Beetle Cabriolets, Things, Beetles, and a single M code, M 218.

None of the M-codes are listed in the parts book nor in the technical section, but that's a frequent occurrence as far as M-codes go.

This version of the parts book doesn't mention the earlier smoothie rims and the dress rims ( embellishers?) that apply to those .

I’m taking Joan to her first VW Show Sunday. VW/Porsche Reunion at Germania Park hosted by the Cincinnati VW Club. It’s one of my favorites and just about the last show for the season around here.
I installed her missing heater box to body hose. Might actually need heat around here Sunday morning.
I’m starting to become just a tiny bit obsessive with minor details.
Last week I installed a battery cut off knob on the negative cable. Never gave it a second thought until I was checking my the Bentley manual and was reminded the negative battery cable is actually supposed to be braided.

If that carb is original the throttle shaft bore is probably worn. I’ve had very good luck with Samba advertiser Volksbitz on my German carbs. They come back looking and running like new.
