Shallow Air Filter / 30pict Carb

Just put a 30pict on a 1600DP in a 63 Double Cab and it runs great! The engine has an intake manifold for a 34pict, so I had to use the adapter. Now the air filter won't fit. The adapter raised the carb up just enough that it doesn't clear. Anyone got a recommendation? I found these ultra low profile air filters on Jbugs. Gonna try to measure to see if they fit.

Anyone deal with this? Is there a "cap" style air filter available? Maybe something like this:

I take it that the stock Transporter air cleaner is long gone then. Because I think it would still work fine with a raised carburetor.

Please don't put that chinese chrome crap on your classic VW. If you start down that road you may one day change your name to Bozo Li.
Stock air cleaner is what you should use. Much more practical.

Your JBugs choice is a very poor one and that Summit racing one is a total joke!

I do not understand why the stock air cleaner won't work. Unless you don't have it anymore...

I don't have the stock air filter. Guess I should look for one. Does anyone sell them new or do I need to look for one?

There are several in the classifieds right now. From around $50-$200, I was just looking the other day.

Gotta love the 30 pict for its ability to run decently in more combos/configurations than the 34 pict ever could.
